Summary

The Jewish Community Center Sonoma County (JCC SoCo) is a Jewish community center without walls committed to providing cultural, educational, social, recreational, and spiritual opportunities for a deeper commitment to, and greater participation in, Jewish life in Sonoma County and the North Bay. JCC SoCo is dedicated to creating a vibrant, inclusive, diverse Jewish community. We are best known for Friendship Circle (seniors program), the JCC Preschool, and the Jewish Film Festival.

The Project Manager is a part time role, up to 20 hours per week, responsible for designing and executing completion of projects that advance the mission of the JCC. Project areas include development as our top priority, implementing new tools and technology, managing and supporting the leaders of our preschool and senior programs, strategic planning, and community activation.

The ideal candidate is one who embraces change, confidently navigates ambiguity, and possesses a proactive bias for action to guide our organization through changes to our strategic plan, back office systems, community communications, and fundraising design. Strong communication skills to engage, activate, and partner with members of the JCC board, JCC staff, and broader Jewish community are essential to being successful in this role.

Duties and Responsibilities

Communications and Development

  • Develop organization’s external communications strategy and tools
  • Launch new website to improve usability in order to better serve recruitment and fund development goals
  • Launch new communication strategies
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies, including donor events and programs, sponsorships, and grants
  • Collaborate with the Board and staff to identify and apply for grants available to the JCC
  • Rearchitect our CRM to ensure that all fundraising activities and touchpoints are tracked and easily usable to inform development strategy and asks
  • Train JCC Board and Staff on the use of Fundly to log donor touchpoints

Program Support

  • Coordinate admin and project management support with the leaders of the Preschool and Friendship Circle programs

Strategic Planning

  • Co-lead creating and maintaining the strategic plan with the Board
  • Work with the President to plan meeting agendas
  • Provide project reports for Board
  • Work with the Treasurer to prepare and monitor the annual budget
  • Attend and participate in Board and committee meetings as requested
  • Provide the Board of Directors with adequate information to help it reach sound decisions and establish effective policies
  • Implement all policies approved by the Board

Modernize JCC Office Operations

  • Create and maintain a safe, healthy, positive and collaborative work environment
  • Provide financial oversight and manage the agency’s day to day budget, working with the bookkeeper and Treasurer
  • Oversee furnishings, technology, supplies, insurance and other resources necessary to support the delivery of quality programming
  • Transition all documents and records from local storage to the cloud via Google Workspace
  • Identify opportunities and implement technology to automate recurring tasks
  • Audit the tools and services we have, eliminating those that we do not need and ensuring that we are best leveraging those that we do need
  • Ensure compliance with all local, State and Federal laws
  • Handle payroll and benefits accounting

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent required, Master’s in nonprofit management or related fields preferred
  • Extensive project management experience with demonstrated success creating, managing, and executing projects through completion.
  • Experience in leading organizational change management and deploying new technology, systems, and tools.
  • Experience working in or supporting educational programs
  • Thrives when acting as a change agent.
  • Self-directed
  • Expertise in nonprofit fiscal management, including accounting and budgeting
  • Demonstrated grant writing and fundraising skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Proven experience working as an employee or board member in a nonprofit organization required; staff supervision and direct Board reporting is a plus
  • Knowledge of Jewish traditions, holidays, and observance; involvement in the Jewish community is desired
  • Familiarity with the Sonoma County Jewish community; maintain primary residence in the county while in this position
  • Computer proficiency in Word, Excel, Google Workspace, web design, and graphic design, email marketing, and online marketing tools. Experience with accounting tools is a plus
  • Proficiency with social media platforms including Facebook and Instagram
  • Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, motivate and manage volunteers
  • Demonstrated experience in community building
