Jewish Community Center of San Francisco is Hiring a Youth Sports Instructor - Volleyball Near San Francisco, CA

The Jewish Community Center of San Francisco is seeking enthusiastic individuals to join our team as a Youth Sports Coach with an emphasis on youth volleyball for the upcoming 2024 Spring Youth Sport Classes. We are looking for candidates with coaching experience and/or extensive knowledge of volleyball, coupled with a passion for working with children aged 8 to 12 years. Our youth sports program at JCCSF is designed to instill both sport-specific and life skills in a positive and enjoyable environment. Successful applicants will embody these principles while providing steadfast leadership and dedication to the young program participants.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop team goals aligned with the JCCSF youth sports program philosophies.
  • Organize engaging practices and games, focusing on fundamental skill development with positive reinforcement.
  • Consistently attend weekday classes.
  • Provide active guidance to the team during classes
  • Acquire and adhere to JCCSF policies and procedures.
  • Maintain open communication with children, parents, fellow coaches, and supervisors.
  • Additional duties as needed.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Experience working with children aged 3-11 years.
  • Knowledge of early childhood development is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with volleyball.
  • Previous experience as a youth volleyball coach is preferred.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
  • Exceptional communication skills.
  • Availability for all scheduled classes, trainings, and meetings.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Coaching activities take place in an indoor gymnasium at JCCSF, ensuring a comfortable and climate-controlled setting for coaches and athletes.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of standing, typically lasting a few hours each day.
  • Ability to lift and handle objects weighing up to 50lbs.
  • Ability to demonstrate sport-specific skills.
  • Frequent movement within the gymnasium environment during scheduled hours.

SCHEDULE

  • Spring Season: March 28th, 2024 – May 16th, 2024
  • Coach training/meetings in late March

HOURS

2 – 10 hours/week. Seasonal position: March – May. Must be available for the entire session, with flexibility for one to two weekday afternoons or evenings, Monday – Thursday.
