SUMMARY

As the most senior member of the cloud infrastructure team, you will play a critical role in designing, implementing, and managing the cloud infrastructure to ensure high availability, scalability, and security. The Architect’s expertise will drive innovation and enable delivery of cutting-edge solutions to our clients, as well as provide thought leadership on the overall design of technical systems across the company. This role will support major initiatives primarily in Azure and AWS, with some focus on GCP.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Lead the design and architecture of complex cloud solutions in Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, and Amazon Web Services considering performance, availability, security, and cost optimization.
  • Oversee the deployment, configuration, and maintenance of cloud infrastructure, including virtual machines, networking, storage, and security measures.
  • Collaborate with solutions, application, Guidewire, and other architects to set technology direction and design based on business needs.
  • Develop and maintain automation scripts and Infrastructure as Code (IAC) templates using tools such as Terraform, Ansible, or equivalent.
  • Monitor and optimize cloud resources to ensure efficient utilization, cost-effectiveness, and optimal performance.
  • Design robust security controls, identity and access management, and compliance standards across cloud environments.
  • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues related to cloud services, networking, and infrastructure components.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior cloud engineers, fostering a culture of learning and professional growth.
  • Collaborate with cloud service providers (Azure, AWS, Google Cloud) to ensure alignment with best practices, access to support, and utilization of latest features.
  • Have a deep understanding of traditional On-premises systems as well as be versed in Windows operating systems such as Windows Server 2016, 2019, and 2022.
  • Having knowledge of Linux systems such as CentOS, Redhat, and Ubuntu is a plus.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s degree in IT or a related field preferred.
  • Must have at least 10 years of related experience in Information Technology.
  • Must have at least 5 years of experience in Microsoft Azure.
  • Deep understanding of cloud computing concepts, virtualization, networking, security, and storage. Proficiency in scripting and automation using languages such as PowerShell or Bash.
  • Experience supporting major infrastructure migration initiatives is preferred.
  • Property/casualty insurance background and jewelry industry experience are helpful, but not required.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

Major Cloud certifications at the architect level are preferred, such as AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Azure Solutions Architect Expert, and Google Cloud Architect.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Occasionally required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or touch objects or controls; and talk or hear.
