POSITION SUMMARY:
The Production Technician I will communicate directly with the engineers and foremen, and work with the operations group to analyze, maintain, and troubleshoot wells. The Production Technician I position’s primary focus is on data acquisition in the form of fluid levels, and dynamometer tests. The position also involves coordinating multiple responsibilities and interested parties to prioritize workload with appropriate supervision.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
 
  • Check Fluid Levels and Dyno’s each well monthly and as needed, track any changes after the well service unit leaves a well.
  • Take, track, and analyze weekly fluid levels and make recommendations for optimization.
  • Troubleshoot surface pumping unit operations to ensure system is working efficiently, call for services when the need arises.
  • Monitor ESP surface controllers to ensure sub-surface equipment is functioning as planned.
  • Understand power supply (overhead, generator, IC engine) issues and discuss issues with supervisors as warranted.
  • Troubleshoot wells when engineers or operators call with issues.
  • Ensure programming and configurations in POC and VFD’s on rod pump applications.
  • Handle additional duties as needed.
REQUIRED SKILLS/ABILITIES:
 
  • 2 years’ experience in upstream or midstream process operations.
  • Working knowledge of instrumentation and electrical standards and practices.
  • Practical understanding of oil and gas production processes.
  • Good problem-solving skills and the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical matters.
  • Efficiently navigate a personal computer with MS Office Suite applications. (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management and co-workers.
  • Must be a self-starter with the ability to manage time effectively with minimal oversight.
DESIRED SKILLS:
 
  • 4 years’ experience in upstream or midstream process operations with 1 to 2 years of diagnostic and automation focus
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
 
  • High School Diploma or GED is not required, but is preferred
  • General oilfield experience required particularly pumping
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
ADDITIONAL COMMENTS ON THE ROLE / COMPANY:
  • Climbing 16’ or 25’ stairs
  • Frequently lifting up to 50 lbs. individually and up to 100 lbs. with assistance
  • Occasionally working in severe weather conditions including extreme hot and cold temperatures
  • Muddy and wet conditions are frequent
  • H2S Certification will be required within 90 days of employment; company provides training
