Job Summary:
The Director of Maintenance is responsible for the overall activities, compliance, safety and quality of the Jet Access aircraft fleet, the Jet Access Team Members working in this location, and the work completed. This role will include the recordkeeping for airworthiness of all fleet aircraft, in addition to conducting Maintenance and repair work, and overseeing technicians assigned.
Core Schedule:
- Days: Monday thru Friday
- Hours: 7:00 am – 5:00 pm
- On call or evening/weekend hours will be required for this role
Day in the Life:
- Plans, organizes, staffs, controls, and directs the Maintenance functions for all repair work and tracking of the fleet of aircraft.
- Promotes aviation safety by ensuring airworthy and quality aircraft maintenance.
- Performs maintenance tasks without supervision.
- Performs airframe, powerplant and propeller repairs and modifications required to meet company and FAA requirements.
- Performs piston engine troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and engine run-ups.
- Conducts airframe system, component changes and systems checkout.
- Performs service bulletins on airframes and engine.
- Requires knowledge of 100 hour annual and progressive inspection procedures set forth in FAR 43.
- Removal and disassembly of defective parts; assembly and installation of replacement parts; and testing aircraft systems
- Interprets technical manuals, drawings, and blueprints.
- Mechanics will be required to sign for work accomplished including troubleshooting deferred maintenance items and ensure proper recording of all maintenance tasks on company documents.
- Building of customer invoices using labor calculations, purchase orders, and parts mark-up calculations
- Uses equipment such as tensiometers, micrometers, pressure gauges, dial gauges, vacuum gauges, timing lights, and a variety of hand tools to repair or modify systems or assemblies.
- Keep a constant watch for safety, excessive cost of labor duplication, ensure proper and adequate equipment is used, acceptable parts or components are installed, and approved hardware or supplies are used.
- Ensure work performed adheres to high quality standards.
- Develops strategic plans for continuous improvement of quality.
- Administers Vendor Audit Programs and approved vendor list.
- Ensures quality management systems are established, implemented, and maintained.
- Responsible for the Corrective Action Program, designed to detect a nonconformance or undesirable condition, correct it and prevent its recurrence.
- Prepares and conducts performance evaluations, recommends personnel action, including salary recommendations, per company policy for assigned personnel.
- Ensures that employees assigned to perform each task have documented training.
- Is final authority for returning aircraft to service after strip, paint, flight control installation and balance, weight check requirements and other processes authorized.
- May delegate authority but retain responsibility.
What will make you successful:
- Airframe and Powerplant Mechanic (A&P) Certificate required.
- Requires a minimum of 3 years’ experience with diversified piston, modification, aircraft/flight maintenance or airframe sheet metal maintenance.
- Operates all power tools and equipment necessary to accomplish job assignments.
- Preferred experience in a customer service facility performing inspections and repair of aircraft.
- Valid state driver’s license
- Requires use of arithmetic, blueprints, and specifications plus knowledge of piston airframe and engine principles
- Must have experience in MROs.
- Must successfully pass background check and drug test.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with excellent ability to understand and translate customer requirements and interact and cooperate with company employees in all departments.
- Tenacious self-starter with a mature outlook. Proven ability to operate independently and achieve results; enthusiastic, committed, and conscientious.
