Rate: $38/hour

Per diem if 75 miles $137.50/day maximum

Must be a US citizen or US permanent resident.

Must pass hands on skills assessment.

Must pass hair follicle drug screen.

Must have at least 3-4 years experience.

Must submit for background check (no felonies within past 7 years)

Basic Qualifications:

· Minimum 3 Yrs. trade experience

• Basic math, reading and comprehension skills
• Read and interpret blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements
• Knowledge of the layout, fit-up and fabrication of steel plate and beam.
• Experience with various trade specific tools such as: hand torch, hydraulic and ratchet jacks, levels, grinders, squares, metric and standard tape measures and plumb equipment.
• Flux core and Stick tacking

Job Description:

A First-Class Shipfitter, also referred to as a Journeyman Shipfitter or a Boilermaker, is responsible for various tools and equipment used in the fabrication, assembling and erection of metal components at the various stages in constructing a marine vessel.

Shipfitters will be required to work either day or night (various shifts) dependent upon the number of ships under construction at any one point in time. Shipyard production areas involve working at different heights, confined spaces, all weather conditions. Ingalls stresses the practice of working safely in all situations.

Job Types: Full-time, Contract

Pay: $38.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
