Job Summary: 

The Service Technician is responsible for servicing and repairing vehicles as assigned by the Service Manager, Supervisor, or Team Leader. In addition, the Service Technician may also be assigned to conduct pre-delivery service on new vehicles to ensure excellent working order upon delivery to the customer. 

The ideal Service Technician has an unrestricted driver's license, clean driving record, a minimum of one year of dealer-level or large facility experience, post-secondary automotive training, Volvo or ASE certified is preferred (or is willing to obtain certification), and has a strong technical performance record. Duties and Responsibilities:

The following is a representative list of the duties and responsibilities associated with this position:

  • Expertly diagnose issues based upon experience, analysis, and testing
  • Maintain leading-edge knowledge of automotive diagnosis technology, digital manuals, and reference materials
  • Possess an increasingly broad knowledge of how vehicles' complex components work and interact
  • Perform routine service inspections, test, and lubricate engines and other major components
  • Repair automobiles and light trucks that run on gasoline, electricity, or alternative fuels, such as ethanol
  • Adapt to rapidly changing technologies in the automotive industry, as well as in the diagnostics arena
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures and safety standards 
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Walking: Moving about on foot

  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word to impart oral information to clients or to the public and to convey detailed spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly 
  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds by ear 
  • Tasting/Smelling: Distinguishing, with a degree of accuracy, differences or similarities in intensity or quality of flavors or odors, or recognizing Near particular flavors or odors using tongue or nose 
  • Vision: Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less 
  • Far Vision: Clarity of vision at 20 feet or more 
  • Depth Perception: Three-dimensional vision. Ability to judge distances and spatial relationships so as to see objects where and as they actually are 
  • Visual Accommodation: Adjustment of lens of eye to bring an object into sharp focus. This factor is required when doing near point work at varying distances from the eye 
  • Color Vision: Ability to identify and distinguish colors 
  • Field of Vision: Observing an area that can be seen up and down or to right or left while eyes are fixed on a given point
