EXAMINATION IS ANNOUNCED TO SUPPLMENT THE EXISTING EMPLOYMENT LIST TO FILL ONE (1) CURRENT EAST JEFFERSON VACANCY IN THE DEPARTMENT OF LIBRARY AND FUTURE VACANCIES AS THEY OCCUR.NOTE: Selective certification of eligibles with current experience with a Jefferson Parish library with system-wide programming for teens and children will be used in filling this vacancy.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Under general direction, the purpose of the position is to manage operations of a Public Library. Employees in this classification perform complex library work, may supervise or serve as lead worker for librarians and support staff. For the current vacancy, the position supervises and evaluates staff in Programming, Innovation & Outreach, and Library Maker Spaces. Provides direct daily supervision the Innovation & Outreach Librarian, Maker Space Librarian, Adult Programmer and General Programmer, Teen Programmer and Children’s Programmer. Plans, organizes, and prioritizes work for the implementation of library programming, outreach, “making,” and service to the public. Oversees the preparation and execution of system wide-programs and outreach activities for both adults and children. Works with library management and staff to determine promotional needs and strategies, as well as funding levels for programming, outreach, and Maker Spaces; assists with the preparation of grant requests and reports. Drives personal vehicle to and from various library sites and parish facilities to attend workshops, professional meetings, and perform job tasks. Position requires driving of a personal vehicle, thus possession of a valid driver's license, acceptable driving record, and personal automobile with minimum liability insurance available for business use (business travel is reimbursed on a mileage basis) will be given preference.

(ENTRANCE AND PROMOTIONAL) The examination may consist of a written test, a rating of training and experience, an oral panel interview or any combination thereof. Acceptable applicants will be notified of the time, date, and place of any assembled testing.
