What your job will be like:
Jefferson Lab (JLab) has been selected by the DOE Office of Science as the lead laboratory for the High-Performance Data Facility (HPDF). As the Data Governance and Infrastructure Strategist of this new and ground-breaking facility, you will interface with science, technology, and facility elements of the HPDF ecosystem across the DOE labs and facilities. The successful candidate will apply advanced expertise in the implementation of data systems for large, highly complex, multi-stakeholder scientific ecosystems. Delivering HPDF requires the ability to set strategic plans and to maintain momentum in ambiguity.
This role reports to the Facility Director of the HPDF Hub and will work closely with the Program manager at the Office of Science.
In this role you will:
Understand and integrate data ecosystems - from data entry points to data warehouses, to queries and reports, to dashboards, including query and reports validation to create actionable information for end users
Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop innovative, user-friendly FAIR data solutions (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable)
Collaborate with the Data Science department to support the development of AI-enhanced systems and solutions for the HPDF hub
Oversee the integration of data streams from various sources to meet community and facility objectives
You will also be the HPDF’s site expert in compliance with privacy regulations and data governance policies, and will craft the site’s data governance solution architecture
Will oversee the hiring and performance management of the data stewardship team operations, budget, and resource utilization
Develop strategic roadmaps and growth objectives; works with team to translate strategy into action
Qualifications We Require:
Ph.D. Computer Science, Physics, or other STEM field
15 years' experience in relevant field or combination of experience, education and achievement
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Experience managing scientific and technical professionals; growth, performance, and financial management
Expert in multiple areas of science and technology
Strong strategic planning acumen
Overcomes barriers and obstacles to drive efforts through to completion
High EQ; superb interpersonal and communication skills
Excellent leadership and management skills
Ability to understand, remember, and communicate highly technical information and make decisions/ recommendations
Ability to understand complex problems and to collaborate, explore and implement alternative solutions
Capable of analytic and deductive reasoning, scientific analysis and synthesis of information
Qualifications We Desire:
Experience with the DOE Office of Science and its related programs
Has served as a principal investigator on federally-funded research
Ability to build and develop a team of scientific and technical support staff
