We are actively seeking a Production Assistant Manager to join our Hot Stamping Department on 2nd shift (core schedule, Monday - Friday 1:45 pm - 10:30 pm) 

Position Description

Note – The following is not intended to be all-inclusive. Business conditions change and develop, as well
as the individual develops requiring flexibility, straight forward communication, and forward thinking to
prepare and adapt to change. The individual is expected to grow within these guidelines focusing on
excellence within the role. You work in a friendly and courteous manner providing an accurate flow of
communication. (both internal and external).

This will prepare the individual for potential future positions as the business needs require and the
individual demonstrates their contribution and potential.

Your position is responsible for providing professional and dependable service and to develop our
Team's capability to deliver JIC’s key objectives to all our customers and suppliers. You will have a
complete understanding of all customer/supplier requirements.

Your understanding of JIC’s Management Policy “To become the best supplier” through our philosophy
and guiding principles “Safety, Morale, Quality, Cost & Delivery” is imperative.
This role will be measured against specific targets as noted in the departmental business plan.

SUMMARY: PLANS AND DIRECTS ALL ACTIVITIES RELATED TO HOT STAMP PRODUCTION.
ASSISTANT MANAGER IS EXPECTED TO MODEL BEHAVIOR REQUIRED FOR JIC ASSOCIATES
INCLUDING PROFESSIONALISM, TEAMWORK, JOB PERFORMANCE AND SUPPORT OF MANAGEMENT.
THEY MUST CARRY OUT THEIR ROUTINE RESPONSIBILITIES AS WELL AS OTHER ASSIGNED TASKS
BY MOTIVATING ASSOCIATES POSITIVELY. PERFORMS THE FOLLOWING DUTIES PERSONALLY
OR THROUGH ASSIGNED COORDINATORS.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

SAFETY

  • Ensures each member of his/her responsible Hot Stamp management team supports safety program by promoting safety, providing training opportunities and enforcing safety policies.
  • Track and monitor Associate safety to meet established target goals.
  • Apply three reality principles to all work related injuries and property damage.

QUALITY

  • Develops TQM fundamentals into daily management practices throughout the Hot Stamp area.
  • Provides the leadership and supervision required to guide the efforts of the responsibility area of Hot Stamp team.
  • Root Cause should be identified and counter-measured (SNAP).
  • Establish Daily, Weekly & Monthly reviews and reflections using CAPDo.

COST

  • Supports the development and management of Hot Stamp Department budget and costs.
  • Reviews production and operating reports and directs the resolution of operational manufacturing and maintenance problems to ensure minimum costs and prevent operational delays.

DELIVERY

  • Helps to establish and maintain production control and management standards.
  • Verifies that Associates are trained and are following operating standards.
  • Provide guidance to the development of a manufacturing plan, including manpower requirements, material needs, sub-contract requirements, facility needs, and tooling and equipment needs.
  • Coordinates Hot Stamp activities with all other functions of the organization and suppliers to obtain optimum production and utilization of human resources, machines, and equipment.

MANAGEMENT

  • Responsible for supervising associates through the support of assigned Coordinators
  • Provides guidance and mentorship to Hot Stamp Department team members to ensure a high level of work satisfaction, technical advancement, and progress towards individual career goals.
  • Supports the input to the development of product strategy and research and development of new and emerging products.
  • Ensures that current team and company initiatives, mission, goals and values are clear to each team member.
  • Implements current best practices to manage and build a high-performance team.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of Hot Stamp Department business plans to include all program requirements, including safety, morale, quality, cost and delivery goals.
  • Responsible to ensure company communications are delivered and understood by Associates.
  • Communicates upward to appropriate person any Associate concerns and issues.
  • Ensures all established costs, quality, and delivery commitments are met
  • Demonstrates ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
  • Accepts job assignments and changes in positive manner; takes responsibility for own and team’s performance and job assignments.
  • Seeks out new assignments, proposes improved work methods and finds better ways to complete tasks.

PDCA

  • Develops PDCA fundamentals into daily management practices in Hot Stamp Department to achieve corporate goals.

JOB SKILLS AND REQUIREMENTS:

Interpersonal Skills: Possess skills to communicate with associates, management team, other department managers and senior management.
Leadership Skills: Strong communication skills to provide direction and motivation to team members. Able to motivate associates and team members to keep process and equipment in good condition to assure smooth running operation.
Problem-Solving Skills: Able to quickly ascertain a situation and be decisive in identifying defects and solving problems with equipment and process to avoid missed quality, delivery or safety concerns.
Time Management: Develop task list and assure on-time implementation of tasks.
Computer Skills: Able to operate with basic Office computer software, including Word, Excel and Power Point. Assists with preparing reports and presentations for group discussions.

EDUCATION, MATH LANGUAGE AND/OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma; Extensive related experience. Ability to read and comprehend instructions,
correspondence and memos. Ability to present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common
fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratios, and percent to draw and interpret mathematical
data and graphs.
