Primary Purpose:
Provide special education students with learning activities and experiences designed to help them fulfill their potential for intellectual, emotional, physical, and social growth. Provide behavioral instruction and oversight of academic instruction while the student is participating in orientation or re-orientation. Develop or modify curricula, prepare lessons, and instructional materials to match student ability levels. Work in self-contained, team, department, or itinerant capacity as assigned. Establish/maintain regular daily or weekly parent/guardian contact. Supervise data collection and analyze data to revise or refine student behavioral instruction.
Qualifications:
Education/Certification:
Special Education
Bachelor’s degree from accredited university
Valid Texas teaching certificate
Demonstrated competency in the core academic subject area assigned
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Knowledge of core academic subject assigned
General knowledge of curriculum and instruction
Ability to instruct students and manage their behavior
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience:
At least one year student teaching or approved internship
