Position Summary

Under the direction of the Team Lead, the Apprentice assists in all facets of installing wiring that brings electrical power into any type of building or structure. The Apprentice works according to safety rules and regulations of solar and electrical workers and Jefferson Electric, ensuring that buildings have enough power to operate and do so in a safe way to their occupants.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Works under the supervision of Team Lead or Foreman to assist any Electricians or other Apprentices in completing solar and electrical tasks.
  • Jobs to include assisting in loading/unloading service vans at the beginning/end of the day
  • Restocking of service van and material supplies as needed, preparing jobsite with proper drop cloths and surface protection
  • Cleaning the jobsite
  • Learning new solar and electrical skills as instructed, and assisting in the installation of electrical wiring and energy equipment, devices and fixtures as directed
  • Jobs may also include running errands for additional materials as directed

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Characterized as a team-player
  • Excellent communicator
  • Can-do attitude
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects over 50lbs, maneuvering on stairs, ladders, and scaffolding; Standing for extended periods; Squeezing into tight corners and spaces; Bending over and crouching
  • Schedule flexibility as some jobs take longer than others
  • Highschool level math skills
  • Customer Service – the ability to understand what the customer is asking and effectively communicate how you intend to fix the issue
  • A growth mindset: welcomes training and coaching, and assumes responsibility for their work
  • High School Diploma or equivalency
  • Proven work experience. Mechanical work experience is beneficial

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

  • $17/ hr. starting wage
  • The Apprentice shall only be eligible for benefits after the 90 day probationary period is completed with review and supervisor approval.
