Jefferson Center for Mental Health is Hiring a Therapist, Family Services Near Lakewood, CO

The Family Services Outpatient Therapist will provide individual, family, and group therapy to at-risk children ages 8-22. Utilization of an episode of care model is essential. Hours would include either a 4/10s schedule (working from 8:00 AM-6:00PM 4 days/week) or a 5/8s schedule (working from 10:00 AM-6:00 PM 5 days/week).

Essential Duties:

  • Engage client and family in the treatment process and goal-setting. Identify risk factors including lethality.
  • Work constructively with client and family to reach agreed upon outcomes, and coordinate care with internal and external providers.
  • Provide case management services including consulting with psychiatrists on clinical issues, attending school staffings and staffings at hospitals and other community agencies to monitor and plan treatment as well as to advocate for clients.
  • Maintain appropriate professional standards and provide appropriate follow-ups for clients and families.
  • Use PCOMs , CORS, and SRS with clients and document in My Outcomes. Use Columbia Suicide Severity Rating Scales on all clients each session as needed.
  • Provide therapy services to a caseload size of approximately 50-70 clients full time (seeing clients primarily every other week).
  • Work 4 evenings per week. Work includes 10AM-6PM M-F; or 8AM-6PM, with one weekday off.
  • Implement motivational interviewing techniques to engage clients in treatment.
  • Provide individual therapy as the primary modality as well as family and group therapies.
  • Exhibit enthusiasm, courtesy, adaptability, flexibility, and spirit of cooperation in the work environment.
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relations with consumers, peers, subordinates, upper management, visitors and the general public.
  • Effectively respond to client/consumer needs and problems, initiate and maintain positive interactions, timely respond to phone calls, emails, Microsoft Team Chats, and other requests.
  • Effectively use collaborative documentation, or AI functionality, with clients and families.
  • Work cooperatively with other community agencies, as appropriate, and in agreement with supervisor.
  • Volunteer to work on Center committees and/or task forces.

Other Duties:

  • Attend mandatory Team meetings and trainings, and comply with individualized training plan if required.
  • Attend supervision at times and intervals agreed upon with supervisor and participate in supervision by coming prepared with an agenda. Report high risk/problem cases, along with what is going well and engage in reflections on successes.
  • Submit 90% of all Progress Notes within 3 working days (72 hours).
  • Maintain 90% of updated annual CCARs throughout the year.
  • Complete 90% of case closings within 60 days after last contact.
  • Complete 90% of all treatment plans within 6 months of the last update.
  • Ensure that fee collections are timely if clients have co-pays, pay out of pocket, or owe a balance.
  • Meet required number of client-facing hours as determined by the Center (currently 50% of a clinician’s time is required to be client-facing).

CAS/LAC Duties as Applicable:

  • Participate in CAS group supervision per OBH regulations. CAS II, 2 hours each month, CAS III or LAC one hour each month.
  • Provide CAS-in-training group or individual supervision to staff obtaining their certification (CAS III or LAC only) as needed.
  • Complete required paperwork for substance use treatment licenses and billing to Medicaid and other funding sources, including Substance Abuse ROI, Substance Use Assessment, Infectious Disease Acknowledgment Statement, Out-of-State Offender Questionnaire, ASAM Level of Care and Placement Criteria, CAGE, CRAFFT, BAM, URICA and DACODs.
  • Endorse the Center’s belief that drug testing can be an effective therapeutic tool as it can serve as a deterrent to substance use, a safety measure for prescribing psychotropic medications and provide support to the client to increase the likelihood of successful abstinence. All CAS clinicians will include random or point-in-time urine drug testing (UDT) as a part of the co-occurring services offered here at the Center. SUD Intake clinicians will refer all SUD clients for Point-In-Time/Baseline UDT upon intake.

Education, Knowledge, Skills & Experience Required:

  • Master’s Degree in social work, counseling, psychology or related field required.
  • Licensure preferred but not required. CAS/CAT/LAC also preferred.
  • Two or more years related experience and/or training required.
  • Experience in working with children and youth with mental health issues and their families.
  • Skills in family therapy interventions, crisis interventions, culturally sensitive interventions, cognitive behavioral therapy, play therapy, and other applicable treatment modalities.
  • Must have an understanding of the effects of trauma on the individuals who access services at the Center.
  • Expertise in child development, attachment issues, trauma treatment, abuse/neglect, foster and adoptive issues within families. 
  • Knowledge of stages of change, motivational interviewing, culturally appropriate episodes of care. 
  • Bilingual preferred but not required. 
  • Computer and technological knowledge required.

Salary Grade 51-Master’s Unlicensed Clinician $47,600 to $60,400*

Salary Grade 52- (Licensed Clinician LCSW, LMFT, LPC) $57,000 to $72,700*

Additional Salary Information*:

  • All salaries at Jefferson Center are calculated based on years of total relevant experience.*
  • The salary range above is based on 1.0 FTE (full time equivalent) or 40 hours per week. Less than 40 hours/week will be prorated and adjusted to the appropriate FTE.*
  • Additional pay provided for evening, overnight, and weekend shifts.*
  • Candidates who pass Spanish/English proficiency assessment will receive 10% pay differential.*
