The Outreach Substance Abuse position, under the direction of the Executive Director, is responsible for providing individual psychotherapy services to a case load of individuals who have a substance use disorder. The Outreach Counselor will be the primary coordinator of clinical services for their caseload and will also fulfill necessary data-gathering and other written requirements for the program.

Essential Functions

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Answer phone calls via a designated Outreach number Monday through Friday.
  • Schedule intake appointments as there is availability on caseload.
  • Completes all intake documentation including Consents, Releases of Information, and Clinical Assessments in a timely manner.
  • Provides psychotherapy services to caseload of up to 35 clients. This includes regularly scheduled psychotherapy appointments ranging from weekly to bi-weekly in frequency.
  • Completes all chart work and other required written work in a timely fashion. This includes intake assessments, biopsychosocial assessments, treatment plans, clinical progress notes, and all other clinical documentation required by the substance abuse program. All clinical documentation must be done in accordance with program regulations and regulatory agency requirements.
  • Participates in regularly scheduled individual and group supervision as directed.
  • Participates in weekly didactics along with the medical team.

Knowledge of substance abuse disorders and behavioral health disorders

Knowledge of evidence based treatment interventions (e.g., CBT, DBT, MI, ACT, or Trauma-Informed)

Knowledge of medication for opioid use disorders.


Education:

Master’s Degree from an accredited college with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, social work, counseling, human services, or other related field.

AND

Experience:

At least 1-2 years of experience working in a clinic focused on chemical dependency and/or substance abuse related issues or general behavioral health issues.

ASAM Certification (Preferred, but can be completed within first month of taking role)


Minimum Certifications, Registration or License Requirements:

CAADC (preferred)

LPC, LSW, LCSW, or PsyD/PhD (preferred)
