ABOUT THE SCHOOL/DEPARTMENT

Jefferson County District Athletics & Activities Office helps to maintain & support 18 high schools that reside in Jefferson County. Annually, the district office oversees high school sports and activities, which includes approximately 12,600 athletic participants in 26 sports and nearly 9,000 student participants in 9 activities in grades 9-12.
The athletic department manages coaching salaries, stadium operations, school membership for CHSAA, All-Conference & league standings, MVP & Hall of Fame banquets, athletic trainers, security for stadium and school athletic events, athletic transportation, officials assigning and payment, and game workers for school and stadium sites.

PRE-EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENT

The successful new hire or rehired candidate will be responsible to complete and incur the fingerprinting and processing fee of $54.50 through an appropriate fingerprinting vendor and the Colorado Bureau of Investigation, within 48 hours of offer acceptance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SUMMARY Assist the Executive Director of Athletics & Activities in supervising and evaluating the District's activities programs. This includes co-curricular programming, CHSAA sanctioned activities, clubs, and district wide concerts/events/festivals. The Assistant Director of Activities will work to ensure that the appropriate resources/support are distributed to each school, while coordinating district wide events and professional development. General supervision of all District activities programming.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Assist in administering, supervising, and evaluating Jeffco activities programs. Provide expertise and a specialized focus, ensuring that each area: co-curricular, activities, clubs, etc. receives the attention, support and expertise it deserves.
Responsible for the interpretation of District, State, and National activity rules and policies.
Maintain the departments Activities Handbook and Activities Roles/Responsibilities Resource Guide.
Monitor activity/club offerings and document student participation to ensure equity in the administration of the Districts activities programming.
Develop agendas for the monthly Jeffco High School Activity Director meetings.
Develop in-service training for school-based activities personnel. Responsible for ensuring compliance with all federal, state and district regulations.
Provide support for High School Administrative teams as they develop, communicate, and implement plans for their annual graduation ceremony.
Provide support for the incorporation of high school activities into the Districts strategic initiative of reimagining the high school experience for all students.
Coordinate with and serve as the liaison between the Athletics & Activities Department and the TOSAs who work on the Strategic Plan for the Arts Team.
Coordinate District events as needed or as assigned.
Represent the District as a member of the Colorado High School Activities Association and serve on CHSAA Committees as assigned.
Represent the District in arrangements and scheduling of events to include coordination of District, Regional and the occasional State culminating event.
Perform other duties as assigned.
EXPERIENCE Five (5) years of experience in teaching and activity sponsorship at the secondary level or higher. Three (3) years of administrative experience preferred.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING Bachelor's degree required. Preferred field of study in education or related field. Master's degree preferred.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Colorado Department of Education Principal License or Administrator License. Valid driver's license required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES Detail oriented; excellent written and verbal communication skills; adaptable and resilient under pressure. Experience effectively facilitating project meetings and work sessions. Apply judgment to ensure equity, and interpret District, state, and national rules and regulations. Work collaboratively and effectively with people of diverse backgrounds. Ability to train/coach colleagues on new/existing systems or processes. Ability to identify needs for project advocacy and communicate to and engage with appropriate stakeholders.
SPAN OF CONTROL The Assistant Director of Activities will support the Executive Director of Athletics & Activities, Principals, and Activities Directors in order to enhance activities programming for our students. This includes providing direct support for activities sponsors/advisors as needed.

WORK ENVIRONMENT Work will be primarily performed at both typical office environment and at secondary school sites. Typical secondary school campuses may also contain libraries, science labs, computer labs, kitchens, auditoriums, gymnasiums & athletic fields, and possibly specialized shops. May be exposed to outside elements during outdoor athletic or activities events and during travel between campuses and offices.
