Description
This is an eight-week program designed to fully immerse students in the day-to-day activities of a commodities trading company. The program consists of orientation where Interns learn about our culture, people, and the different business lines at J.D. Heiskell. Our Commodity Trading internship program enables the individual to build relationships with internal customers in order to successfully buy, move, process, and/or sell commodities and its products. It is the blending of skills and knowledge in a fast paced, dynamic working environment. The trading intern will practice and grow their understanding in economics, communications, customer service, risk assessment, and decision-making.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
· Merchandising – learn concepts of trading, merchandising, and hedging such that he/she can assist in grain and feed merchandising and serve as a backup for sales and merchandising staff.
· Contract Administration - understand contract trade rules
· Sales Support – Develop skills necessary to support sales force including, but not limited to, purchasing, inventory management, logistics, contracting, and delivery of commodities and finished feed products.
· Trade Credit – Understand the process and become aware of financial risk associated with trading feeds and commodities.
