GENERAL SUMMARY OF DUTIES: The School Nurse provides clinical services at School Based Health Clinics as designated. The School Nurse assures the safe delivery of care to students and stakeholders. The School Nurse must facilitate the timely access of on-site medical services and resources to students at the clinic. Services provided will be routine and preventative as well as for acute situations. Incumbent will administer care for both the physical and psychosocial well-being of students This position requires some local travel.
The School Nurse must assure that all regulatory requirements are being satisfied: namely but not limited to, Joint Commission, HRSA Core Requirements, and National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA). Directs day to day clinical operations of school-based health clinic sites.
SUPERVISION EXERCISED: Direct and indirect supervision of designated professional staff; Supervises Clinical Site Managers, nursing and ancillary staff.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
QUALIFICATIONS: Must be a Registered Nurses (RNs) with at least 2 years of experience or Licensed Practical Nurses (LPNs) with over 5 years of related experience. 5 years of Management experience preferred. Demonstrates ability to act independently; Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills; Demonstrates a willingness to lead change; Demonstrates good communication skills in a diverse student population; Demonstrates leadership ability, as well as ability to assess, problem solve and effectively make decisions; Demonstrates flexibility and manageability of multiple demands.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Qualified applicant will be experienced in clinical operations and possess a unencumbered and current Nursing licensure; Valid Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation Card (CPR); Demonstrated comfort, knowledge and understanding of information technology; A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in community health and/or management experience in any clinical setting. Must be grounded in working with the pediatric, adolescent, and young adult populations; Willingness to take on the role and responsibility of leadership.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to speak multiple languages a plus; Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports and legal documents; Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or members within the business community; Excellent oratory and writing skills; Ability to effectively present information to top management, stakeholders, public groups and/or the Board of Directors.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical solutions.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Emergency training a plus-NALS, PALS, and/or ACLS.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, operate a computer and other office equipment, reach with hands and arms, and must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
