JCC Greater Boston is Hiring a Remote Staff Engagement Coordinator

JCC Greater Boston is seeking a Staff Engagement Coordinator to join our team of dedicated professionals in creating a vibrant, inclusive, and diverse community. As a nonprofit organization, we are committed to nurturing meaningful relationships and providing highly valued connections, learning, and experiences for the Jewish community and friends.

In this role, the Staff Engagement Coordinator will work in an innovative, friendly, and welcoming environment where their talents and contributions are appreciated. The successful candidate will be responsible for fostering a positive and engaging work culture for our staff while promoting organizational alignment. As a key member of our team, the Staff Engagement Coordinator will play a crucial role in ensuring that the JCC staff feel supported and valued, resulting in an exceptional work-life balance.

The starting salary for this position is $47,940 - $58,140. The salary offered will ultimately be determined by the scope of the position, the candidate’s relevant experience, and internal equity.

Responsibilities

Support Strong Organization Cultural Development:

  • Support the Senior Leadership and Human Resources teams in creating a culture of trust, collaboration, and learning by executing projects that encourage collaboration, facilitate staff learning and development, promote strong internal communication, and support staff recognition, appreciation, and care.
  • Develop and coordinate internal communications and communication platforms for staff, including, but not limited to, regular email communication, better utilization of the organization's intranet, and the creation of other communication and connection opportunities.
  • Oversee the annual staff survey process and work with the Senior Leadership Team and Human Resources teams to facilitate the use of the data in decision-making.
  • Support work surrounding the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) initiatives from the Senior Leadership Team and Human Resources teams by managing the DEIB task force and executing special projects and initiatives related to DEIB.
  • Support initiatives designed to make the JCC a “Great Place to Work” by coordinating planning activities for the Human Resources Team and external advisors. Execute special projects and initiatives related to this work.

Coordinate Staff Engagement Initiatives

  • Deepen staff engagement by collaboratively designing and leading initiatives that allow employees to engage with and learn from each other across departments
  • Coordinate and expand current staff meeting and event offerings with a goal of engaging all staff.
  • Plan and coordinate the annual event to celebrate staff tenure.
  • Create regular opportunities for social networking and community development (affinity groups, brown bag lunches, etc.).
  • Create systems to provide internal staff support, including but not limited to mentorship and coaching opportunities.
  • Facilitate the creation of a comprehensive professional development system for staff through in-house and external training sources.
  • Manage, organize, and make improvements to staff spaces, including staff kitchens and supply areas.

Provide Coordination for the Management Team

  • Support the JCC’s work with our 50-person Management Team by fostering ongoing training and coaching, building learning communities, and creating effective organizational management for the JCC.
  • Coordinate event logistics, including team meetings, trainings, conferences, seminars, workshops, and off-site meetings for the Management Team.
  • Coordinate planning and session calendars for the team and provide excellent, proactive communication to the Management Team.
  • Coordinate planning documents, organizational documents, and other project management tools to ensure the Management Team is able to function well and readily access needed resources.
  • Deal discreetly with highly sensitive, confidential written, electronic, and oral communications concerning staff, departments, and finances.

Education and Experience: Requires a Bachelor's degree in HR, business administration, non-profit management, or a related field, and 2-5 years of proven experience in executive administration, human resources, talent development, or a similar role.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted at JCC’s discretion to meet minimum criteria.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge and familiarity with the needs of staff and organizational work.
  • Outstanding project management skills from design to implementation, managing deadlines with great attention to detail and maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to multitask and manage situations effectively and diplomatically; ability to adapt to evolving needs and circumstances.
  • Must be a self-starter who takes the initiative.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders.
  • Strong writing and communication skills. 
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Discretion and good judgment. 

Physical Requirements:  Able to work well in a busy, dynamic, and sometimes noisy environment involving multiple tasks and priorities. Able to lift and carry objects weighing 30-40 pounds (boxes of supplies, food, etc.). Able to stand and sit for periods of time.
