Purpose:
Achieve focused ownership and technical leadership for a value stream consisting of freezers. Create a direct accountability for satisfying external and internal customer requirements balanced with meeting internal business and engineering performance objectives. Cultivate product domain expertise in a team of direct reports to support all organizational functions outside engineering. Assist in developing and achieving product strategy serving customer needs. Develop and maintain expertise in assigned product category including understanding of markets, customers and competition.
Project orders: Support inquiries, trouble shooting, scoping, and ensuring timely execution

Take an active role in Lean Enterprise or continuous improvement activities to improve the business

Collaborate strongly with Product Managers to scope and execute New Product Development for the value stream as well developing future product plans

Requirements:
BS Degree in Engineering and 5-7 years of relevant experience, MS in Engineering or MBA preferred.
Knowledge and Skills:
Technical: Knowledge of multiple technologies, products and applications across the food machinery industry or equivalent. Knowledge of competing and alternative technologies is preferred. Basic awareness of CAD, PDM systems is required. Demonstrated innovative skills to research and create new products/processes using advanced laws, theorems, and broad industry knowledge. Recognized as a technical leader among internal and external peers. Strength of materials, fatigue analysis, and basic mechatronic integration skills are required.
Non-Technical: Must be able to work in close cooperation with all areas of the business with a “can do” attitude, a high degree of urgency, and the ability to get things done. Proven leadership ability. Able to cultivate and sustains positive professional relationships with customers (internal and external) as well as global engineering peers. Demonstrates proficiency in thinking creatively and project planning. Demonstrated effective customer presentation skills. Strong scheduling, planning, and organizational skills are definitely required. This role requires a manager who can challenge and motivate a technical team to achieve aggressive objectives.
Experience:
Demonstrated ability to bring New Products to market in a cross functional and collaborative phase-gate environment. A minimum of 1-2 years managing team budgets (hours and/or expense) is preferred. Lean office background and problem-solving experience is preferred but not required.
Supervisory Responsibility:
Responsible for the project direction, salary planning, and direct management of 2 to 7 engineering/technical employees which includes mechanical designers, mechanical engineers and contractors. Included in this responsibility is the coaching and development of the staff. This team will include global team members in different locations. This manager will also be responsible for supervising project teams in a matrix environment from time to time. Receives direction from the Engineering Director to set broad objectives, interpret policy issues, develop new concepts and resolve unusual problems.
