This position is located at our Lakeland, FL site and will be primarily responsible for support, trouble-shoot and design electrical components and panels for lease, sold and under development equipment; will primarily giving support on customer site and electrical workshop.

The Opportunity ...

A day in the life of our Electrical Designer …

  • Assure that JBT’s leased automation systems are maintained and calibrated to a high standard that ensures the systems are always operating correctly.
  • Apply electrical engineering knowledge to machinery principles and materials, manufacturing methods and processes to ensure that designs are functional, practical, economical, safe, meet required codes and satisfy customer operating requirements.
  • Interface with senior engineers, service managers and occasionally customers to understand and clarify specifications and project design objectives.
  • Operate computer-assisted design software to perform electrical design tasks.
  • Work in the electrical shop to ensure that assembly, wiring, installation and operation of control panels and electrical systems conform to quality standards, applicable codes and customer requirements.
  • Kept a proactive plant visit and calibration schedule to all lease equipment.
  • Construct accurate and complete bills of material based on designs that conform to cost and performance objectives.
  • Inspect, install, troubleshoot and debug machine systems, both on-site and remotely
  • Train customer and service personnel to troubleshoot and maintain the machine system and provide them with documentation, programs and procedures to support the training
  • Proactively revise designs to meet specifications and deadlines.
  • Proactively evaluate new technologies, suppliers and design approaches
  • As needed, provide on-site and off-site technical support

What we would like to see in your experience …

  • Minimum Electrician/Electronics Technician, BS Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Electonics Engineering preferred
  • Minimum 4 years of experience
  • Experience in electrical control system wiring, design and engineering for machinery, including instrumentation, start-up and debugging processes
  • Basic PLC knowledge to troubleshoot and remote assistance for customers is a plus.
  • Experience with AutoCAD Electrical, Eplan or similar software.
  • Travel requirement is 60% of the time, depends of the peak season.
  • Knowledge of practical/fundamental wiring practices for industrial control systems including up to 600VAC motor power circuits and controls (VFDs, ect.), discrete and analog signaling devices, PLC modules, Ethernet communications and safe-guarding controls
  • Experience with control panel wiring, layout and design
  • Be able to troubleshoot problems on electrical connections in control panels.
  • Knowledge of NEC for industrial low voltage electrical systems (knowledge of UL panel design a plus)
  • Basic knowledge of pneumatic (compressed air) systems
  • Food processing industry controls experience preferred
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills which include presentation skills
  • Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Office – Word/Excel, AutoCAD Electrical, IT)
  • Ability to successfully follow direction provided
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to successfully handle a multi-tasked role.
