Purpose

The primary function of this position is to monitor and implement all food safety and pre-requisite programs, and to ensure the product is made in the safest environment possible.

Position reports to:

FSQASupervisor and FSQA Manager

-Continuously perform operational sanitation

-Enforces company GMPs and personal hygiene standards ensuring that all employees are following company procedures, guidelines and other rules.

-Checks product labeling of incoming products (i.e.,correct ingredients and allergen statements etc.)

-Pulls samples for testing.

-Follows protocols for sampling and swabbing of product and environment.

-Communicates with production supervisors and line workers deficiencies that are found or new policies taking effect.

-Provides critical support to the FSQA Manager with daily reports of ongoing situations.

-Keep detailed records of various food safety/quality inspections.

-Performs the calibrations of recording/measuring equipment

-Maintains food security records.

-Generates work orders for maintenance for the upkeep of the site

-Train line workers on FS functions expected of them

-Ensuring all departments and equipment are ready for production and meets regulatory requirements, interacts with USDA on any deficiencies that they may take note of.

In this person’s absence, the FSQA Supervisor and/or Manager will perform the duties.

Education and Experience:

-Bachelor’s degree in a biological science with 1-2 years’ experience in a USDA RTE facility; or a

Competencies:

-Must have excellent problem-solving abilities

-Must have excellent computer skills

-Must have excellent communication skills.

-Must be able to read and comprehend regulations, correspondence, instructions, rules and regulations as well as fill out forms and write reports

Working Conditions

-Frequent sitting, standing and walking, which may be required for long periods of time

-Maintaining composure in dealing with authorities, clients, staff and the public, occasionally under conditions of urgency and in pressure situations.

-Must undergo and meet company standards for background and reference checks, controlled substance testing.

-Required ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently.

-Handling and being exposed to sensitive and confidential information.

-May be exposed to stressful situations.

-May be required to work additional hours/overtime without advance notice.

-Seeing, hearing and speaking clearly in order to communicate effectively.

-Occasional lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds unassisted.
