JB Duke Hotel is Hiring an Overnight Security Near Durham, NC
RESPONSIBLITIES: Officers are dispatched from a centrally located office within the hotel on assigned patrols to look for actual or potential violations of hotel standards regarding conduct, safety ordinances, county, state, federal or municipal codes. Officers are responsible for maintaining the peace, and acting on actual violations for the purposes of resolution. Officers are responsible for all initial medical aid contacts and act as first responders assessing and rendering appropriate first aid and/or cardiopulmonary resuscitation, rescue breathing, or other life-saving technique, and if necessary and prudent, request the dispatch of additional Emergency Service personnel, such as paramedics. Officers shall provide interdepartmental assistance upon request to ensure optimum service to guests.
- Reports to work dressed in proper attire and on time following proper clock in/out procedure as outlined in the employee handbook.
- Actively supports and exemplifies of all hotel Policies & Procedures.
- Collects and administrates the logging of all Lost Property turned into the Security Office, and storing it in a timely matter.
- Acts as dispatcher and observes surveillance monitors.
- Answers phone in the Security Office and performs light office work such as, but not limited to, filing, copying, computer data entry, etc.
- Maintains the objectives, policies, and procedures laid out in handbooks, training materials, memorandums, directives, as well as state and federal standards.
- Prioritizes and organizes work assignments.
- Investigates all incidents reported occurring on their shift that are relevant to the four categories: Crime, Incidents, Medical Emergencies, and Traffic.
- Assists in identifying trends on their shift, creating strategic plans, and preventing similar occurrences in the future.
- Assists in conducting safety inspections and monthly limited response fire and medical aid drills.
- When called on to do so, provides expert testimony on behalf of the hotel / our Company in litigation matters pertaining to prosecution, defense, or Liability.
- When present at the scene of any medical emergency, acts as a first responder, and assesses and renders appropriate first aid and/or other life saving techniques, and, if necessary and prudent, requests the dispatch of additional Emergency Service personnel, such as paramedics.

NOTE: This hotel operates seven days a week, twenty-four hours a day and that holidays such as Christmas, New Years, Easter, Mother’s Day, Thanksgiving, Fourth of July or any other holidays are normal working days. Business levels will determine the amount of hours you work. Understand that you may be asked to work in other departments in a related position as required. Management retains the discretion to add and/or change the duties of this position at any time.
TO DO THIS KIND OF WORK, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO:
PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Bending, lifting and/or carrying of objects as required. Requires walking or standing to a significant degree.
MATH SKILLS: Must have the ability to perform basic mathematical calculations.
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Communicate effectively in English (both written and orally) with other employees, guests or vendors as needed. Must be able to read and comprehend written information. A second language skill is highly desirable.
SPECIFIC VOCATIONAL PREPARATION:
Requires Basic Life Support (CPR) certification and First Aid certification. Must have above average ability to communicate in English with guests, management, co-workers, and members of Law Enforcement and Emergency Services. Must have good written communication skills.
TO DO THIS JOB YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING LICENSES OR CERTIFICATIONS BEFORE BEING HIRED:
Possess a valid North Carolina Operators License.
TO DO THIS JOB YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING AMOUNT OF TOTAL EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
