Jazwares is Hiring a Senior Toy Designer - Soft Goods Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

As the Senior Toy Designer, you have the unique opportunity to design and develop products that will shape the future of our internal IP brands and licensed products. You are the driving force behind the creative direction of our brand strategies and objectives, and it is up to you to bring them to life with your strong ideation, sketching, and technical problem-solving abilities. Your work will inspire and captivate our customers, and help us leave a lasting impact.
What you will do:
  • Be instrumental in generating new toy concepts to enhance new and/or existing brands
  • Exhibit interest and knowledge of the current trends/innovations as well as an understanding of the competitive
    marketplace in the toy industry
  • Champion great design in our high-quality products and help ensure they are within target cost and QA/QC
    requirements
  • Ensure delivery of precise, clear, and complete product turnover specifications and ensure they are fully understood
    by the international team(s)/factory(ies)
  • Successfully prepare, present, and communicate concepts to the brand, development, management, and licensor
    teams
  • Support the overall strategic goals of the product, provide direction and feedback during the development process that is
    attentive to Licensor requirements
  • Responsible for completing, reviewing, and documenting specification changes, submitting for licensor approval and
    providing comments for illustrative turns, sculpts, paintmasters, and sample reviews
  • Work closely with Brand/Management teams to resolve development issues, while assuring designs meet the target
    cost, schedule, and brand standards
  • Communicate with the packaging design team to ensure product and packaging are aligned
  • Work collaboratively with your branding, product management, engineering, packaging, licensor and other internal
    team partners to create a product that is the best fit for the brand
  • Build consensus between team members throughout the design process
  • Be adaptable to shifting priorities and be vigilant to keep team projects moving forward to hit deadlines
  • Attend Brand, licensing, and brainstorming meetings to obtain necessary information for product design

What we are looking for:
  • Bachelor's Degree in toy design, industrial design, industrial engineering, or industry-relevant field preferred
  • 5-8 years of relevant design and development experience in softgoods and plush toys
  • 1 years of experience working with global manufacturing factories (Asia preferred)
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite (Fluency with Illustrator, and Photoshop required)
  • Strong portfolio with relevant work samples in softgoods and plush toys
  • Demonstrate a strong design sense and problem-solving skills
  • Proven expertise in control drawings and rendered illustrations of concepts
  • Strong, visual-verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and a well-developed sense of aesthetics
  • Knowledge of 3D modeling, sculpting, and rendering is a plus
  • Knowledge of materials and multiple manufacturing processes
  • Knowledge of working with licensed brands
  • Proactively observes and gains an understanding of the competitive marketplace including current trends and
    innovation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, problem-solving, and adaptability to change
  • Strong leadership competency with a focus on results, influence, accountability, collaboration, quality, cost
    efficiency and timelines
  • Strong use of influencing skills to gain alignment, agreement, and commitments across internal and external
    key stakeholders
  • Superior presentation skills, ability to present at all levels within the internal organization as well as in key
    industry events

Base salary may vary based on experience, role tenure, performance, industry, location. Eligibility for annual performance incentive may apply. Jazwares is a multi-state employer, salary range may not apply to other states.
