Two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester
hours of college work), OR
An associate’s degree (or higher), OR
Passed the WorkKeys Test (Bronze ), ParaPro Assessment (455 ) or
the OGET Job Goal: Support assigned teacher to ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the classroom. Typical duties may include:
Assist teacher in planning and implementing daily and long range lessons.
Prepare papers, copies, materials, bulletin boards, etc.
Maintain attendance and other paperwork.
Supervise students during meal times, transition periods and recess. Escort students to/from classes, office, restrooms, etc.
Monitor student behavior and intervene when needed, including notifying other officials of unique needs of individual students.
Conduct learning exercises with small groups of students.
Maintain the classroom in an organized manner.
Serve as a substitute teacher when needed.
Monitor testing as needed.
Assist nurse when needed.
Utilize professional behavior in all school related interactions.
Comply with all federal, state and local laws and board policies and procedures.
