Summary:
The Production Engineer defines the working sequence of a new production process to achieve the targeted product cost and equipment investment budget. Ensures appropriate production methods, cycle-time, equipment performance, and material/components in support of production efficiency targets. Provide support to Production during the internal/external process/equipment start-up, defining action plans and training relevant maintenance and production resources. Evaluate new process technologies to improve productivity, quality and cost reduction defining and leading testing activities. Approve chosen criteria and external provider choices.
Responsibilities:
• Perform tasks within the ECO process locally to implement changes in production.
• Create and maintain work instructions/PFMEA’s and other manufacturing documents to support production.
• Develop and maintain routing allocations of material and workstations in production.
• Maintain, prepare, and update new and existing products in SAP.
• Guide production staff in work methods and processes.
• Oversee various aspects of new product launches such as new assembly equipment/robotic cells/testing cells
• Improve efficiency within production through continuous improvement projects.
• Provide input to the design of new workstations, tools, and automation.
• Continuously strive to improve takt times through CIP projects.
• Support quality team with technical expertise.
• Support SCM with production requirements upon suppliers.
• Support Logistics/Warehouse personnel on project to improve material flow and reduce material disturbances
• Support productions various issues such as BOM structure, hardware/software during assembly and testing.
• Work with the other robot factories on global production engineering projects as required.
• Work with other key Company personnel outside of the PDP to complete required tasks.
Knowledge, Skills, Experience:
• Undergraduate degree in one of the following disciplines: Mechanical/Industrial/Manufacturing Engineering; 0-2 years' working experience.
• Understanding/exposure of robotics and how the technology is used in manufacturing
• Ability to understand safety requirements and safely operate a variety of machine shop equipment and hand tools to support production
• Knowledge of SAP and/or the ability to learn SAP critical functions associated production processes
• Ability to use AutoCAD/Solid Works for fixture design
• Experience in using project management methodologies in starting and closing various projects/launches
• Experience with designing small fixtures/ hand tools/brackets
• Ability to create and maintain various work instructions and PFMEA’s
• Knowledge of various continuous improvement methodologies and how to apply them
• Exposure in working on global teams on various global projects.
