BASIC FUNCTION/PURPOSE

Coordinates building efforts related to overall cleanliness and appearance

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Works under the direction of a school administrator and head custodian in the implementation of the schedule for maintaining building cleanliness
• Appropriate uses chemicals, methods, and equipment in maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly facility
• Reports improper, inefficient, or unsafe conditions to the head custodian or an appropriate administrator
• Reports any damage or necessary maintenance to the head custodian or appropriate administrator
• Handles cleaning/maintenance emergencies in accordance with established practices.
• Engages in all levels of cleaning, from daily routines to scheduled tasks, such as stripping and waxing floors
• Conducts pre-defined, routine maintenance procedures as needed
• Reports inventory issues with cleaning supplies and equipment to the head custodian
• Discusses any work related conflicts or issues with the head custodian
• Works with custodial team in relocating classrooms or offices. This includes lifting (up to 50 pounds) and moving furniture, books, computers/technological equipment, file cabinets, classroom supplies, or furniture to new locations.
• Works to deliver or place new packages or furniture following delivery to the school
• Works on periodic projects such as painting, stripping and waxing floors, or grounds work as assigned
• Must have the ability to work on ladders or with other lifting equipment to address cleaning or maintenance tasks
• Demonstrates flexibility in terms of daily schedule which may be altered due to after school games, activities, or meetings
• Demonstrates willingness to assist with addressing emergencies
• Performs other duties as requested or assigned by the head custodian or the appropriate administrator

EDUCATION AND CREDENTIAL

• Knowledge of methods, supplies, and equipment used for maintaining a school in a safe, clean, orderly condition
