POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Shipping Coordinator or Plant Management Team, the Shipping Clerk is responsible for the final packaging and staging of the finished product for shipment.
1st shift Monday - Friday
6:00am - 2:00pm
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Load company truck first working day of the work week and/or when assigned.
2. Check the weekly “shipping pick list” and prioritize orders by date.
3. Stage individual loads for final packaging per #2 above.
4. Verify the quality of finished goods prior to pack; such as paint coverage, part identification, etc.
5. Pack items properly and securely for shipment per the work instruction.
6. Remove product from the paint line, pack according to known quantities and place in the finished goods area.
7. Prior to shipping, verify quantities per shipping pick list and weigh the product.
8. Record weights and the pallet counts on the shipping pick list and notify the supervisor when items are complete.
9. Build “special” packaging containers when required.
10. Follow all safety rules while performing job functions.
11. Make bar codes for product shipment I.D.
12. Call in shipments and make Bills of Lading.
MARGINAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Help keep area clean and neat (practice housekeeping).
2. Assist with the development of more efficient manufacturing methods and procedures.
3. Package parts orders and seal kits as required.
Requirements
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
High school education or equivalent.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
1. Shipping and/or packing experience.
2. Possess organizational skills
3. Ability to work alone as well as with others
4. Self-starter with the ability to take on multiple projects
5. Skilled in establishing priorities and managing workload on a daily basis
6. Great attendance and punctuality
7. Strong oral and written communication skills
8. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form
9. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
