Pharmacy Technician, Closed door Pharmacy

Under the direction of a licensed pharmacist, the technician will process prescriptions, adjudicate claims to third party insurances, and fill medications in vials and compliance packaging. Ancillary duties include, but are not limited to, inventory management, receipt of drug orders, and answering phones.

An ideal candidate for this position will be knowledgeable with both brand and generic equivalents, be willing and able to learn the pharmacy software (Rx30), and perform detailed work.

EMPLOYMENT STANDARDS

Possesses a valid certificate of registration as a Pharmacy Technician issued by the appropriate State Board of Pharmacy.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENT

Registration must be kept valid throughout the term of employment as a Pharmacy Technician.

GENERAL KNOWLEDGE

Pharmacy practices and procedures; clerical and record keeping practices and procedures, including patient billing; drug names and generic equivalents; pharmaceutical dosage forms and strengths; common medical terms and abbreviations; units of measure.

ABILITIES

Operate a computer and learn the department's computer system; read physicians' prescription orders; perform simple arithmetical computations, measurements, and conversions; maintain confidentiality; perform detailed work.
