Legislative Affairs Specialist Location: Fort Meade, MD Remote Work: No Salary: $81.8K to $110K (annualized USD); Commensurate with education & experience Clearance: Minimum TS/SCI; willingness to take CI Poly Legislative Affairs Specialist Key RoleProvide support for a DoD client. Exhibit familiarity with legislative and regulatory documents and a knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process. Review and analyze congressional hearing transcripts and prepare and submit Questions for the Record (QFR) and Inserts for the Record (IFR). Act in a proactive manner with actions focused on problem-solving and aiding in implementing systems and procedures to ensure that projects and documents are kept on track, and internal and external deadlines are met. Monitor the status of defense legislation, pertinent hearings, markups, and floor actions, prepare client staff for congressional hearings, and respond to congressional inquiries. Coordinate with appropriate government officials to obtain review and approval. Research and write background papers, talking points, and written and verbal statements, including providing legislative briefings to senior leadership. Basic Qualifications
5 years of experience in the legislative affairs field or department-level planning or execution
Experience with legislative and regulatory documents
Experience reviewing and analyzing congressional hearing transcripts and preparing or submitting QFRs and IFRs
Experience researching and writing background papers, talking points, and verbal and written statements, including providing legislative briefings to leadership
Knowledge of the legislative and regulatory process
Active TS/SCI clearance; willingness to take a polygraph exam
Bachelor’s degree

Ability to prepare leadership for testifying to and meeting with government members and pertinent staff members
Ability to work independently and be self-motivated
Ability to act in a proactive manner with actions focused on problem-solving and analyzing the implementation of systems and procedures to ensure that projects and documents are kept on track, and internal and external deadlines are met
Possession of excellent organizational skills
Possession of excellent verbal and written communication skills
TS/SCI clearance with a polygraph
Bachelor’s degree in Political Science or a related field
