Maintenance Custodian
General Definition of Work
Performs semi-skilled work in the care, cleaning and maintenance of District buildings and grounds, and related work as
apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Superintendent.

Essential Functions
Sweeps, vacuums, mops and buffs floors, shampoos carpets; strips and waxes floors.
Removes trash and recyclables from buildings and surrounding areas and places in appropriate location.
Cleans windows and glass doors; removes dust from baseboards, and window sills; cleans tables, desks, walls, chairs
and blinds.
Cleans and restocks restrooms; cleans and disinfects water fountains, door handles, light switches and door plates.
Performs routine maintenance and repairs on building fixtures, furniture and/or structures such as replacing light bulbs,
tightening loose hardware and replacing parts as assigned; performs ground maintenance duties; removes debris from
District property; assists with snow and ice control as assigned.
Assists other staff as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
General knowledge of building cleaning practices, supplies, and equipment and ability to use them economically and
efficiently; ability to understand oral and written directions; thorough knowledge of maintenance manuals; general
knowledge of vehicle maintenance and usage; ability to operate lawn mowers and snow plows; physical ability to
perform heavy manual work; ability to work independently; thorough knowledge of standard office equipment; ability
make arithmetic computations using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; ability to establish and maintain effective
working relationship with co-workers, students, parents and elected officials.
Education and Experience
High school diploma or GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Requirements
This work requires the frequent exertion of up to 10 pounds of force and occasional exertion of up to 50 pounds of force;
work regularly requires standing and walking, frequently requires using hands to finger, handle or feel, climbing or
balancing, pushing or pulling, lifting and repetitive motions and occasionally requires speaking or hearing, stooping,
kneeling, crouching or crawling, reaching with hands and arms and tasting or smelling; work requires close vision,
distance vision, ability to adjust focus, depth perception and color perception; vocal communication is required for
expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word; hearing is required to perceive information at normal
spoken word levels; work requires preparing and analyzing written or computer data, visual inspection involving small
defects and/or small parts, using of measuring devices, assembly or fabrication of parts within arms -length, operating
machines, operating motor vehicles or equipment and observing general surroundings and activities; work frequently
requires exposure to wet, humid conditions (non-weather), working near moving mechanical parts, exposure to outdoor
weather conditions, exposure to extreme cold (non-weather) and exposure to extreme heat (non-weather) and
occasionally requires working in high, precarious places, exposure to fumes or airborne particles, exposure to toxic or
caustic chemicals, exposure to bloodborne pathogens and may be required to wear specialized personal protective
equipment and Exposure to bodily fluids; work is generally in a moderately noisy location (e.g. business office, light
traffic).
Hours will generally be 6:30am - 3:00pm, but may be flexible and developed based on building/district activities and calendar. Monthly schedules will be provided one month prior to the effective schedule.
Hourly wage: $17.30/hour, per master bargaining agreement. Additional license pay for Special, 2nd class, and 1st class boiler license.
Special Requirements
Second Class C Boiler's License or ability to obtain
Boiler Training upon hire if needed
Air Quality Training upon hire
