JAMCO AMERICA, INC.

Job Title: Facility and EHS Technician

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $23.80-$27.40


Summary

Plan and coordinate the maintenance needs of the facilities within scope of company requirements, all government regulations and good industry practice; schedule preventive maintenance for equipment, machinery, tools, and building; installs, maintains, and repairs machinery, equipment, physical structures, and pipe and electrical systems by performing the following duties. Assist in the coordination and enforcement of safety and environmental initiatives.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities
include the following with other duties as assigned:

  • Performs routine repairs and maintenance of plant facilities and equipment. Uses hand and power tools to perform basic carpentry, electrical, mechanical, air conditioning, and/or plumbing repairs.
  • Reviews manufacturers’ service manuals, own company’s usage schedules, and records of maintenance problems to determine optimum frequency of preventive maintenance.
  • Confers with manufacturing manager to study production and operations schedules in order to determine when planned maintenance will least interfere with operations.
  • Visually inspects and tests machinery and equipment.
  • Maintains records of planned and completed maintenance.
  • Responsible for complying with OSHA and WISHA rules and regulations.
  • Inspects machines and equipment for accident prevention devices.
  • Prepares report of findings with recommendations for corrective action.
  • Performs maintenance of facility grounds including lawn, garden, and overall appearance.
  • Perform inspections of facility safety equipment (Fire Extinguishers, Eye Wash & Safety Showers, Ladders, Forklifts, AEDs, First Aid Kits, Emergency Lighting, etc.)
  • Identify trends and areas of concern or improvement.
  • Conducts internal safety audits and inspections.
  • Participates in monthly safety meetings.
  • Assists with various EHS continuous improvement initiatives or corrections as needed.
  • Required to maintain a safe and productive production facility
  • Assist with the management of hazardous and nonhazardous waste (Empty haz-waste cans, light bulbs, batteries and e-waste contains and move to storage area)
  • Deliver chemicals to buildings and departments upon request

Requirements

Education and/or Experience

Prefer the completion of Associate's degree in a technical or non-technical field, or formal certification in a technical field obtained through college level courses or professional curriculum with 1-2 years related experience. Prefer previous maintenance experience and knowledge of government regulations pertaining to hazardous materials and safety. Ability to operate forklift; skilled using basic tools and equipment.


Other Requirements

This position may require for you to drive a company vehicle and will require a clean driving record. As a pre-employment contingency and prior to being appointed in this role you will be required to present a Valid Washington State Driver’s license and may need to provide Jamco America with a current driving record from the state of Washington’s Motor Vehicles office documenting your current driving record status within the past three years. Position may also require that you submit to periodic screening of your driving record.


Language Skill

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such a safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers of employees of organization.


Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
