Your Impact

We’re delivering resilience on more than 1,000 global projects, focused on anticipating the impact of natural hazards and climate change to develop and implement resilient infrastructure for coastal and inland river systems, water supply and wastewater treatment systems, and transportation networks. Our integrated water resources team of planners, engineers, scientists, and designers are thinking differently about how we deliver resilient infrastructure solutions. We are looking for a new team member that understands how stormwater infrastructure (i.e., water drainage and conveyance systems) can be seamlessly integrated with the urban landscape (transportation corridors, green space, parks, etc.) to reduce flooding while enhancing the quality of life for community residents. The ability to effectively communicate across disciplines will be key to your success, thus a varied background in water resources, H&H modeling, and civil infrastructure planning and design is desired.

Our Louisiana operation supports a variety of state and local infrastructure projects and programs. For example, you will have an opportunity to support conveyance system planning and management through data collection, organization, and management of sanitary sewer condition assessment, and project design for sewer rehab. In addition, you’ll have an opportunity to help build a multi-faceted municipal stormwater program focused on regulatory compliance, maintenance and operations, and engineering of stormwater management features with an emphasis on flood control and water quality improvement. You’ll even have an opportunity to transform how cities monitor and record water usage through by supporting the implementation of a large smart meter and advanced metering infrastructure (AMI) program.
The position requires excellent technical skills such as H&H modeling and civil design combined with an acumen for project management, construction management, consulting, and client service. At Jacobs, you’ll have an opportunity to engage with local, regional, and national subject matter experts to deliver innovative solutions that directly benefit our local communities.

Here’s What You’ll be Doing

• Display effective communication and people skills while working in a fast-paced consulting environment.
• Work with multi-discipline design teams to prepare construction plans for sanitary sewer lift stations, water/wastewater pipelines, and treatment plants.
• Write, review, and provide clear, concise input to investigation, regulatory, or design reports.
• Conduct hydrological, hydraulic, and water quality investigations utilizing the latest and leading-edge technologies and software.
• Manage and execute stormwater modeling tasks from start to finish including data collection, model development and calibration, existing conditions modeling, inundation mapping, project development, and alternatives analysis for both green and gray infrastructure projects.
• Assess hydraulic performance of existing stormwater systems and design retrofits for existing system components to reduce flooding and improve water quality.
• Utilize GIS to manage infrastructure inventories, conduct geospatial analyses, and prepare maps to facilitate field data collection, communicate project concepts, and post-process H&H modeling results.
• Conduct sanitary sewer investigations through field assessments, evaluation of historical records, hydraulic modeling, engineering analysis, and design to improve the condition of underperforming assets and optimize system performance.
• Support improvements to commercial and residential development review processes (plan review and inspections) including the design and implementation of construction and post-construction stormwater best management practices (BMPs).
• Effectively work with project teams with diverse technical skill sets and geographic locations.
• Work to maintain and enhance cooperative partnerships with and between the client and stakeholders to ensure successful project delivery.
• Drive health and safety in all aspects of project execution including field, office, and personal environments.

Here’s What You’ll Need

• Bachelor of Science in civil / environmental / biological engineering or related engineering field
• Master’s degree in civil / environmental engineering or related engineering
• Professional engineering license
• 5-10 years of progressive experience in water resources, civil engineering, and/or environmental engineering
• Experience working in: GIS (ArcGIS), CAD (AutoCAD/Civil 3D, MicroStation/Geopack), Bluebeam, ProjectWise, MS Office (including Power Point)
• Experience with a variety of hydraulic modeling software packages S PCSWMM, XP-SWMM, InfoWorks, InfoNet, StormCAD, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS.
• Desire for a mix of office and field work with the ability to successfully engage with the public, construction contractors, and client staff.
