Mission Statement

Jacobs is seeking an Infrastructure Installation Technician to support the NISSC II contract. Your career at Jacobs enables NISSC to fulfill its mission to “provide classified communications and processing for Command and Control (C2) capability in organizational work centers at NISSC sites.” As a member of our team, you will support corporate and customer mission to provide world-class IT services and support that connects systems and users across NORAD in the areas of software development/maintenance, network services, cyber security, systems administration, and other mission-critical areas.

 

JOB SUMMARY: 

**This position reports to the Cheyenne Mountain Space Force Station. 

The Infrastructure Installation Technician installs, operates, maintains, repairs, and modifies inside/outside plant, manholes, handholds, and internal confined spaces. Performs a variety of infrastructure maintenance on products such as integrated systems and subsystems at customer and/or field locations. Analyzes and evaluates products related to performance. Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions to eliminate problems in minimum time. Installs, upgrades, and removes products ensuring engineering changes. Maintains effective customer communications and relations. May provide onsite training of customer support personnel.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Install and maintain underground, buried, copper core, and fiber-optic cables supporting systems for command and control, communications, and computers.
  • Plan, maintain, and install all cable and communication conveyance systems. 
  • Process formal customer requests and develop technical solutions.
  • Maintains cable installation records and schematics using a database.
  • Performs configuration control for all communications cables and conveyances for CMSFS.
  • Focal point for any/all questions concerning authorized access to the CMAFS bellows; maintains access list, log all information on the master station log, alarm/de-alarm, and maintain combinations. 
  • Resolve project installation and maintenance troubles by using project sketches, drawings, project directives, diagrams, and Technical Orders.
  • Follow project installation and maintenance actions and repair procedures.
  • Conduct system tests to assess cable capabilities and serviceability.
  • Coordinate operations with using activities.
  • Install, inspect, and evaluate cable installation, and maintenance actions.
  • Evaluate inspection reports and analyze survey and test results. 
  • Process Civil Engineer work clearance requests; locate mark and record underground communication cables.
  • Operate and maintain special tools, test equipment, auxiliary equipment, and special vehicles.
  • Troubleshoot, repair, and replace fiber optic, transceivers, mux, and modems.
  • Knowledge/certification of mechanical and fusion fiber optic splices/connectors. 

Here’s what you’ll need:

Position requirements:

  • Current and active Secret clearance and be eligible to attain a TS/SCI.
  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent 
  • Six months of directly related experience planning, maintaining, and installing all cable and communication conveyance systems in particular underground, copper core, and fiber-optic cables supporting systems for command and control, communications, and computers.

 

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience working with an Air/Space Force customer in a high-paced environment.
  • Experience with Air/Space Force processes/tools for tracking projects, maintenance schedules, and updating cable equipment and facing records.
  • A good working knowledge of EIA 568A/B cabling standards.

 

This position is expected to pay $55,000 - $65,000 annually; depending on experience, education, and any certifications that are directly related to the position.

Essential Functions

 

Work Environment

  • Work will be performed inside and outside a large facility. An inside environment may be a cubicle or a lab environment (considerations: close quarters, low to moderate noise, bright or dim lighting).
  • Commuting between locations may be required daily (~10-minute drive)
  • Work assignments vary based on client requirements. 

 

Physical Requirements

  • Must be able to perform some physical work while working on ladders (for example: installation of vertical and or horizontal premise cable); above ceiling crawl spaces (confined space) and cable vault (manhole). May require lifting and carrying work materials up to approximately 45 lbs.
  • Sitting at desk. Phone and computer use may have extended periods of sitting.

 

Equipment and Machines

  • Use of Power Tools to include Band Saws, ladders, jacks, and utility carts.
  • General office equipment, which includes telephone, fax machine, copier, PC/laptop, and other miscellaneous office equipment.
  • May require operating motor vehicles for commuting between locations.

 

Attendance

  • Regular attendance following the established work schedule is mandatory.
  • You may be asked to continue performance during inclement weather or other conditions when others are not permitted to work.

 

Travel

  • Travel in and around Colorado Springs and Cheyenne Mountain may be required.

 

Other Essential Functions

  • Employment is contingent upon obtaining all required certifications within the timeframe specified in a waiver by the government (if applicable) and maintaining required certifications through the duration of the contract. Failure to obtain/maintain required certifications will result in disqualification for this position and could result in termination.
  • Candidate must exhibit professional behavior that promotes teamwork, fosters cooperation, and enhances productivity in the workplace. Must be well organized with the ability to coordinate, prioritize, and execute multiple tasks simultaneously in a high-pressure environment. Ability to communicate verbally and in writing to work effectively with a variety of government, military, and contractor personnel at all levels.
  • Candidate must be able to interface effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Grooming and dress are usually business casual but dependent on the client’s standards. Must not pose a safety hazard to employees working in the same general area.
  • The position for which you are applying requires a US government security clearance. This is to advise you, that should you be extended an offer, if you possess a dual citizenship (i.e., citizen of the US and another country), to be granted a clearance you will be required to relinquish your citizenship in the foreign country.
