POSITION PURPOSE:
Located in our North County Food Bank and under the direct supervision of the North County Director, the Project Coordinator performs a wide variety of routine to moderately difficult responsible and specialized administrative, volunteer and warehouse-related duties in support of the San Diego Food Bank’s operations; and performs other duties as assigned.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
The duties listed below are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed.   • Responsible for creating and giving presentations about the food bank, and the volunteer program, in an effort to inform/train volunteers in support of the San Diego Food Bank programs
  • Responsible for general warehouse tasks, and restocking; assist with cooler and freezer organization; keeping all volunteer areas clean and free of trash; dispose of all trash daily; conducts inventory for unsorted, and repacked items including counting and verifying inventory balances for all stock items, and reconciles discrepancies.
  • Direct contact for volunteers; schedule and track volunteer shifts; follow-up on voicemails, phone calls, and emails with volunteers; update volunteer schedules and calendars and provide frequent updates to staff; communicate with Program staff and other departments to determine and fulfill volunteer needs; and other related duties as needed.
  • Record keeping, determining where volunteers are needed, as well as working collaboratively with SDFB staff to increase volunteer knowledge about other services and needs of the organization.
  • Assist in building relationships with new businesses, major corporations, as well as professional groups in the community
  • Other duties assigned.
EDUCATION, TRAINING and EXPERIENCE:
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school or G.E.D. equivalent; and four years of progressively responsible experience in performing volunteer and warehousing duties; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of::
  • Volunteer management software.
  • Computer operations using word processing and other business software.
  • Organizing and maintaining specialized documentation.
Ability to::
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Learn and operate warehouse equipment safely (manual pallet jack, electric pallet jack, sit down/stand up forklift
  • Learn volunteer management related and office software
  • Read and interpret data, use math and mathematical reasoning.
  • Learn and apply new information.
  • Manage multiple priorities.
  • Lift 65 pounds.
  • Accurately and efficiently carry out inventory control practices and procedures.
  • Operate warehouse equipment including a forklift.
  • Perform highly detailed work on multiple, concurrent tasks with frequent interruptions.
  • Meet intensive and changing deadlines and interact with staff and the public.
LICENSES, CERTIFICATES, SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Experience in a customer service oriented and nonprofit environment is desirable.
  • A valid CA Driver’s license
  • Forklift License (can be obtained upon employment)
COMPENSATION:
  • This is a full-time, non-exempt/hourly/benefited position between $22.00-$23.00 per hour depending on experience:

WORK SCHEDULE :
  • - Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday 12:00p to 8:30p; Tuesday and Saturday 8:00a - 4:30p (schedule subject to change depending on workload and holiday weekends).
    • This position may require overtime, as needed
