Jackson Hospital and Clinic is Hiring a PRN Flexible/ Weekends Near Montgomery, AL

Pharmacy Technician I assists pharmacists in preparing (non-sterile) and distributing medications, restocking automated dispensing devices, crash carts and fire medic kits, processing patient charges and credits and maintaining the drug inventory. They work only under the supervision of a registered pharmacist and do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.

Requirements:

Utilizes appropriate communication and displays compassion in exceeding customer expectations.

Applies principles of teamwork and quality to job responsibilities. And customer satisfactory goals.

Demonstrate integrity and responsibilities related to hospital operations, safety and education.

Procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.

  • fills physician orders, care packages, medication carts, or stock requisitions accurately
  • replenishes medications in crash carts, fire medic boxes, and automated dispensing equipment
  • delivers/tubes medications and supplies to patient care areas accurately per established schedule

Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.

  • assists in orders, receiving, unpacking and storing drugs and supplies in appropriate locations
  • rotates stock to ensure use before expiration date
  • identifies and replaces outdated and unusable drugs
  • restocks medication dispensing areas
  • prepackages bulk medications in unit dose packages

Contributes to the effective operation of the department.

  • picks up items and medications for return from patient care areas when on delivery rounds
  • enters charges and credits for patient medications accurately
  • generates reports, pick lists and labels as required
  • answers the telephone, identifying self and department, directing the call to appropriate personnel
  • answers requests at the window and makes stat deliveries where requested
  • maintains logs, records and other required documentation accurately. Files documentation in appropriate locations
  • participating in the peer review process and completing a self-evaluation due one month before the evaluation date

Maintains competence required for current job title/position.

  • attends pharmacy staff meetings
  • participates in orientation, education and training programs. Reviews literature and other materials as assigned
  • completes all competence/skills assessment requirements

Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.
