Hours for shift: 7:00pm - 7:30am

Summary

The Associate Nurse Manager reports directly to the Nurse Manager and oversees daily operations of assigned shift ensuring proper care is provided to all patients. The Associate Nurse Manager is accountable to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate nursing care, competency of clinical and support staff, and appropriate resource and service management related to patient care on assigned shift. The Associate Nurse Manager must also ensure services and care are provided abiding by the policies and procedures of the organization, demonstrate fiscal responsibility and accountability. The Associate Nurse Manager plays a crucial role in assisting the Nurse Manager with strategic operations of the unit, conducting staff meetings, and all other responsibilities. The Associate Nurse Manager is knowledgeable of hospital policies and procedures, regulatory requirements and patient care standards.

  • Mentors and supports staff retention and development.
  • Enforces policies fairly and participates in process improvement committees.

Service Excellence

  • Models the nursing process for high standards of care and patient education.
  • Rounds on patients, monitors handoff, and ensures call light responsiveness.
  • Facilitates staff education and assumes responsibility in the Nurse Manager's absence.
  • Reports issues promptly and keeps leaders informed.

Organizational Impact

  • Aligns goals with organizational priorities and ensures timely patient discharges.
  • Builds positive relationships with providers and supports staff development.
  • Evaluates staff performance and supports performance improvement programs.
  • Recruits and orients new employees, promoting CARE values and staffing efficiencies.

Continuous Improvement

  • Analyzes trends, suggests improvements, and ensures compliance with quality metrics.
  • Conducts daily patient rounds to maintain high nursing standards and patient satisfaction.

Operational Excellence

  • Participates in budget planning and cost management.
  • Ensures adequate staffing and maintains compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Prepares unit for regulatory requirements and role models CARE values.
  • Performs additional related duties as assigned.

Experience

Generally requires 3 to 5 years of related experience. Management experience is strongly preferred.

Education

Bachelor's degree in Nursing is required.

Credentials

  • Valid Florida RN license is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment. Must meet and maintain valid and current all unit specific and organizational skills/competencies, certifications/licensures, as required by regulatory and/or nursing standard of practice for the specialty.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $41.00 - $65.00 per hour
