POSITION SUMMARY:

The Transportation Manager is responsible for the safe, efficient, timely and accurate delivery of our product to our customers. This is accomplished through thorough planning and an on-going process of monitoring driver performance, equipment condition and performance, and business volume while effectively managing expenses in an ever-changing environment.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

  • Daily oversight of all driver operations, routes, completion, follow up. Liaisons with other distribution personnel to ensure daily, weekly, quarterly delivery goals are met.
  • Dispatch all drivers in assigned area.
  • Arranges for substitutes and stand-by drivers or may drive a truck to cover absences for the purpose of providing adequate coverage to meet the needs of the customers.
  • Review driver logs and paperwork to ensure accuracy and strict adherence to policy and federal and state regulations. Appropriately address any issues identified.
  • Handles accident Reports/Tickets.
  • Conducts regular inspections of trucks for the purpose of ensuring safety, performance, and that staff performance are meeting established standards and expectations.
  • Truck Maintenance.
  • Fuel consumption/managing delivery territories/wear and tear on trucks.
  • Responds to emergencies including afterhours situations for the purpose of addressing immediate delivery issues or safety concerns.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulatory agencies, as well as compliance with all company rules and policies.
  • Assure safety awareness and compliance practices are adhered to in the department.
  • Maintains records and other mandated information which is required (e.g. route information, vehicle inspection records, time reports, personnel records, etc.) for the purpose of meeting regulatory requirements.
  • Assesses incidents, complaints and/or accidents for the purpose of resolving or recommending resolution to the situation.
  • Responds to operational emergencies involving accidents, spills/breakage, etc.
  • Maintain positive relations with customer field personnel.
  • Performs management duties (e.g. hiring, training, supervising, evaluating, etc.) for the purpose of maintaining adequate staffing, increasing productivity and ensuring customer expectations are met.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and procedures.
  • Identify, address, and document driver performance issues.
  • Audit drivers logbooks, run tickets, trip reports, hourly pay sheets daily before submitting.
  • Ensure all assigned drivers have been trained in Company Policies and Procedures.
  • Ensure all drivers have Safety Training.
  • Budget and financial accountability for areas of responsibility.Supervises all employees assigned to specific locations; is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of this location.
  • Responsible for reviewing employee performance, rewarding and disciplinary actions of employees, addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Participate in all transportation cost analysis and other logistical projects
  • Participate in the development and maintenance of Transportation and Logistics management standard operating procedures (SOP).
  • Maintain transportation data for monthly budget analysis and quarterly metric/KPI output.
  • Transportation and Freight costs analysis.
  • Effective management of transportation budget and cost
  • Integral position in delivering against cost savings targets
  • Establish monthly supplier performance measurements and utilize results to manage suppliers
  • Develop, manage and deliver against transportation budgets; continually delivers efficiency in transportation and logistics striving to reduce cost while delivering outstanding service.
  • Provide leadership and direction during annual planning process

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
Essential Skills, Experience, and EducationEducation: 

      • Bachelor’s Degree preferred (Business Management, Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Finance).
      • Transportation certification and Licenses a plus.

Experience:

  • Knowledge of the Bay Area and surrounding counties
  • Knowledge of federal, state and local regulations.
  • Good report writing skills.
  • Good time management skills
  • Knowledge of Webtime.
  • Advance knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Outlook, Word, Access, Power Point, etc. ).
  • Team Player.
  • Good communications and leadership skills.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Expert knowledge & full understanding of key economic drivers in truck, and third party suppliers this includes, fuel, base rates, service bundles, etc.

Computer Skills:

  • Microsoft Word.
  • Microsoft Excel.
PAY RANGE:  $69,212.00(min) $86,515.00(mid) $103,818.00(max) ANNUALLY
