What you'll do.

As a Controller, you will take a hands-on approach to Jackrabbit Technologies’ finance, accounting, risk management, compliance, and tax function. Well-versed in B2B SaaS, you will implement practical financial strategy and manage and monitor day-to-day execution with stellar accuracy and integrity. Your analysis will become a key input to decision-making and help answer the question, “can we make it happen?” Jackrabbit is a bootstrapped company that does NOT have investor-related obligations.

More specifically, you will:

• Own the successful execution of all finance, accounting, risk management, compliance, and tax duties necessary for Jackrabbit’s operations, following generally accepted accounting principles.
• Develop and implement practical financial strategy that informs overall company strategy and drives sustainable growth.
• Manage and monitor Jackrabbit’s P&L (COGS, S&M, R&D, G&A, net profit, revenue recognition, taxes, etc.).
• Build and maintain a dashboard with relevant performance metrics, partnering with Jackrabbit’s Data Team and incorporating relevant financial and SaaS KPIs.
• Own annual team-level forecasting and budgeting, and monthly and quarterly P&L, KPI, and actual vs. budget reporting.
• Build and maintain detailed financial models–multi-product revenue, profitability, and client growth, as well as headcount, compensation, and more.
• Monitor and manage electronic payment fund flows, reconciliation, and profitability analysis.
• Analyze investment opportunities funded by Jackrabbit’s organic growth.
• Maintain scalable processes for managing payables, partner/reseller fees, payroll, expenses, funds transfers, taxes, and owner transactions.
• Manage risk through effective contract management, appropriate insurance coverage, and collaborating with the Payments team on fraud monitoring.
• Lead Billing Team and oversee the performance of our outsourced bookkeeping partner and other third-party finance vendors.
• Hire, develop, evaluate, and retain high-performing Finance Team members as future needs dictate.
• Assess our current financial technology stack and implement effective workflows.
• Collaborate with Leadership Team peers and make an impact in the Leadership Team conversation.
• Travel up to 2% (Charlotte-based)/5% (non Charlotte-based); international travel may be required.
• Additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned.

What you’re about.

You are an experienced finance and accounting professional and quickly establish yourself as a trusted advisor to the Leadership Team and Ownership. You take a hands-on approach to providing relevant finance guidance and implementing sound accounting practices. You have led finance and accounting in a $10M-$50M SaaS business, and have a passion for finding opportunities to grow value and profitability. You base your strategy on effective modeling and analysis, relevant SaaS KPIs, prudent risk management, efficient compliance, and generally accepted accounting principles.

In addition, you have:

• 4 years experience working in financial planning and analysis (FP&A) and accounting for a SaaS or other subscription-based technology services company.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or other quantitative field of study. 
• 3 years experience leading FP&A and accounting operations.
• 2 years experience leading direct reports.
• 2 years experience in the electronic payments ecosystem, Payment Facilitator experience preferred.
• Strong alignment with Jackrabbit's Core Values.
• Deep understanding of SaaS metrics (e.g., ARR, LTV, CAC, NRR, etc).
• Self-motivated and highly-productive in a remote work environment.
• Strong proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
• Experience with app-based expense management solutions.
• Highly organized and impeccable attention to detail.
• Highly effective written and verbal communication.
• Process mindset–you seek to automate routine processes across finance and accounting workflows.
