Role: To safeguard the company’s assets and ensure the safety of guests and employees by managing calls and dispatching appropriate personnel for response.

Performs other job-related duties as required by the Security management team; and to perform job responsibilities satisfactorily and to according to department standards. Adheres to all Company, safety and department policies and procedures. Fosters teamwork and provides excellent guest service, anticipates guest needs to exceed guest expectations. Builds brand loyalty by living the JW Marriott Core Values.

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Must meet all the qualifications for Security Officer
  • Must have a minimum of one year of casino security officer experience.

REQUIRED CERTIFICATE/LICENSE:

  • Valid Nevada Gaming Registration 
  • Nevada Driver’s class C License with an acceptable driving record. Must maintain good standing on driving record throughout employment.
  • Current Nevada Alcohol Awareness Training Card (TAM)

MAJOR JOB DUTIES: Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Must be fully capable of carrying out the duties of Security Officer
  • Must possess excellent computer skills, preferably fluent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Able and willing to learn new systems and technology.
  • Effectively read, write, speak and understand English language in order to documents important information.
  • Use general office equipment: computer, multi-line telephone, two-way radio and base station.
  • Excellent multitasker.
  • Communicate effectively with guests and co-workers.
  • Exhibit a solid knowledge base of all Officer training. 
  • Possess working knowledge of computers and all equipment to be used in training.
  • Generate detailed computer-generated incident reports.
  • Respond calmly in crisis and stressful situations and be able to make rational decisions when handling guest and employee issues.
  • Able to work independently.

PHYSICAL, ENVIRONMENTAL & OTHER REQUIREMENTS: 

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an Associate to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Work is performed in a Hotel and Casino environment and in all locations throughout the property. Must be tolerant to varying conditions of noise level, temperature, illumination and air quality. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. When on the casino floor or other outlets, the noise level increases too loud. A casino environment typically allows smoking.

  • Requires normal, corrective vision range, the ability to see color and the ability to distinguish letters, numbers and symbols. 
  • Must be able to work in a loud and fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing secondhand smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, carry heavy loads and maneuver quickly on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to work in a loud and fast paced environment.
  • Must be able to patrol and stand inside and outside, sometimes in heat in excess of 115 degrees, or cold as low as 10 degrees.
  • Must be able to physically restrain individuals when a condition of arrest exists.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, jump, twist, crouch, grip, carry heavy loads and maneuver quickly on level surfaces, as well as up and down stairs.
  • Must be able to tolerate areas containing smoke, high noise levels, bright lights and dust.
  • Manual dexterity needed to operate job related equipment. 
  • Ability to subdue person(s), ability to run, climb stairs, sit, stand and walk for duration of shift.
  • Ability to drag an unconscious person during an evacuation. Must be able to render trained techniques of CPR/AED/First Aid/emergency oxygen management, defensive tactics/handcuffing, and any other required training involving physical activity.
  • Excellent sense of smell and hearing, and the ability to properly communicate using a two-way radio or telephone.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds without assistance. Must use proper lifting technique. 
  • Ability to stand, sit or walk for long periods of time, up to the duration of shift.
  • Work in areas that maybe unusually hot, cold, noisy, smoky or dimly lit. Work may be performed in an office environment.
