Description
POSITION TITLE: Director of Operations
DEPARTMENT: Operations
REPORTS TO: President
General Summary: The Director of Operations oversees the strategic design, implementation, and optimization of all aspects of warehouse/distribution/manufacturing at the 2588 location and Asia offices. Directs best practices and ensures daily operations run smoothly, efficiently, and systematically. Works closely with Directors and Managers to create systems that provide real-time information regarding shipments, inbound freight, and new product status.
Oversight of:
- Facilities/Warehouse
- Purchasing & Asia Sourcing Offices
- Product Development
Facilities:
- Oversight of finished goods inventory (turn 9 times from January-May, and September-December)
- Maintain finished goods inventory sufficient to maximize sales opportunities for June-August
- Implement strategies and initiatives to minimize overhead expenses and address cost variances
- Oversight of product quality levels
- Minimize shipping/freight costs and review sales orders for effective utilization of inventory
Purchasing/Sourcing:
- Develop multi-lateral sourcing
- Secure qualified sourcing for contingencies
- Visibility/review all purchase orders over $1000.00
- Audit raw material costs
- Proven experience working in freight forwarding or logistics, with a strong understanding of international shipping processes
Product Development
- Support product design and development efforts as requested by Sales leadership
- Confirm that processes are followed from inception to product launch
- Make certain all products developed, represented, sold, and distributed meet quality standards
- Verify all government regulations are adhered to without exception
Skills and Abilities:
- Superb coaching, problem-solving, and management skills
- Effective communicator
- Skilled in procedure development
Knowledge:
- Sourcing
- Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) including Teams
- ERP systems
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree and/or equivalent experience.
- Must have experience that correlates with above stated knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Physical Requirements:
- Those required for carrying out specific job functions listed above.
- International and domestic travel may be required.
