J. Reuben Long Detention Center is Hiring a Corrections Officer Near Conway, SC

General Job Description

Under limited supervision, performs a variety of semi-routine duties, which ensure discipline, safety and security among inmates confined in the County Detention Center

Duties for this Position

  • Performs duties in accordance with federal, state and local jail laws and standards.
  • Works 12 hour shifts ex: 6am-6pm or 6pm-6am
  • Training includes SCCJA Class 2 certification and 10 week pre-service program. Future in-house training, specialized team training and LE conferences.

Application Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Copy of Social Security Card and DL
  • 10 year driving record (from all licensed states in last 10 years) must posses valid current Driver’s License with no prior DUI or DUS convictions within the past 10 years.
  • 30 pg. application
  • 2 pg. HR application
  • Signed waiver for background investigation

Application Process

  • Applicants will be contacted via Email or phone call to establish interest
  • Scheduling will begin after full packet is completed and turned in, in its entirety
  • All applicants will complete a written exam, panel interview, and physical agility test
  • Sufficient completion of testing process will be followed by scheduling of Director interview
  • If all standards are met a conditional offer of employment will be sent to applicant
  • A pre-employment background check, drug test and medical examination is required for all applicants.
