Description:
J & M Brown Company, Inc. is currently seeking an electrical estimator to join our Electrical Construction company. This full-time position will be located in our Dedham office with most site-walk thrus in the greater Boston/Cambridge area.
Experience:
- Minimum 2-5 years’ experience with electrical estimating
- Local candidates only
Responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:
- Read & understand engineered drawing & electrical schematics
- Utilize estimating software (Accubid)
- Develop electrical takeoffs and estimates for commercial & residential projects
- Takeoff drawings by counting, highlighting and measuring materials
- Calculating the cost for materials and labor to be used for bid
- Inputting data into Excel and Accubid
- Explaining the job drawings to management
- Communicating with clients on RFIs and other questions during the bidding process
Requirements:
Have a strong ability to grasp electrical construction techniques and improve knowledge through independent curiosity and interaction with team members.
- Bachelor’s degree in construction management, or electrical engineering, or equivalent field experience
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in assembling and closing electrical construction estimates (including commercial fit-out and ground up projects).
- 2 years experience with Accubid Pro & Change Pro estimating software.
- Proficient in using a computer and Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
- Thorough knowledge of the electrical field and familiarity in materials and construction methods.
- Able to work independently and as part of a team.
- Detail oriented and self-motivated.
