J & L Construction, LLC is Hiring a Project Estimator Near Denton, TX

J&L Construction, LLC is a small business specializing in heavy civil utilities construction in Denton, TX. We want to extend our team and for a full-time Project Estimator. At J&L Construction, we take great pride not only in the work we do but also in our people. The perfect candidate will be someone looking to grow their skills and be highly motivated, energetic, and a multitasker.

Position Summary

This position will work closely with the Project Manager to analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare estimates for private and public projects. The project estimator will receive quotes and material submittals from vendors and subcontractors.

Functions and Responsibilities

· Read and understand contracts to ensure proper estimates and search for the latest industry technology.

· Prepare estimating spreadsheets.

· Gather material, subcontractor, and equipment rental quotes to complete each estimate.

· Estimate the total cost of each project utilizing quotes from vendors, subcontractors, payroll, and any other required expenses.

· Complete any specification documents, bid bonds, and contract documents required in preparation for each bid.

· Analyze blueprints, specifications, proposals, and other documentation to prepare time, cost, and estimates for municipalities and commercial projects.

· Prepare the necessary material take-offs by quantities and type for proper pricing.

· Attend meetings with key personnel and maintain effective communication throughout all projects.

· Assist the project manager with construction schedules, financial schedules, change orders, pay requests, and other necessary documents.

· Fulfill other miscellaneous duties as assigned by the project manager.

Qualifications and Skill Requirements

· Ability to perform in a team environment with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

· Strong organizational and multitasking skills

· Be responsible, dependable, punctual, and attentive to quality and details.

· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.

· Proficient in the use of computers

· Proficient with Bluebeam

· Proficient with Excel

· Experience in underground utilities is necessary

· Bachelor’s degree in engineering is a plus.

· Spanish speaker is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
