J. Fiore's Contemporary Steak House is Hiring a General Manager (GM) for High End Steakhouse Near Saint Petersburg, FL

Job Summary

Located at the historic Union Trust bank building at 895 Central Avenue in downtown St. Petersburg, J. Fiore’s Contemporary Steakhouse is set to open in mid 2024. The restaurant will be over 12,000 square feet with a nearly 2,500 square-foot mezzanine, a separate cocktail lounge and will include over 300 seats, two bars, and a private dining room. Guests will experience stunning settings and vibrant energy complemented by truly genuine hospitality, and indulge in an impressive menu of local seafood and prime cuts of steak, signature cocktails, and a massive wine list.

J. Fiore’s is seeking a General Manager who is responsible for overseeing all facets of daily operations in the front of the house, while also being a key player in back of house operations. These responsibilities include but are not limited to product presentation, guest experience and the guidance and support of wait staff, bartenders, runners and hosts. Most importantly the candidate must have a passion for hospitality and a drive to increase their knowledge in every aspect of this position. Your primary focus will be on guest interaction and relations, leveraging your expertise to ensure every guest feels valued and attended to at the highest level. In addition to this, you'll play a pivotal role in staff training, development, food and beverage operations, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and an unwavering dedication to excellence.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Assist all employees and determines how to best utilize staff for each shift.
  • Manage all employees to maintain highest quality standards through hands-on leadership.
  • Builds a high-performing team. Recruits, hires, and trains a fully staffed Five Star team.
  • Promote proper safety and sanitary practices while maintaining a professional demeanor.
  • Ensure compliance with operational standards and company policies as well as federal, state and local laws.
  • Actively participate as a member of the management team.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of the entire menu including ingredients and preparation.
  • Must work together with other managers in the department, executive chef, and Company.
  • Maintain knowledge and composure when interacting with guests and employees.
  • Establishes Five Star guest service and satisfaction as a priority through personal example and teaching.
  • Develops, communicates, and achieves forecasts and realistic budgets, goals, and objectives.
  • Has the ownership mentality throughout the business. To ensure guest experience quality while maintaining profit margins.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance guest satisfaction, actively seeking and implementing feedback.
  • Knowledge and training of all employees regarding safety hazards and best practices.
  • Restaurant paperwork, including payroll, purchasing, deposits, employee records, cash sheets, etc. – completed timely and accurately.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of previous management in an upscale dining experience.
  • Minimum 5 years of previous management in food and beverage; preferably as a General Manager.
  • Strong operations background with exceptional leadership, communication, and time management skills.
  • Work in a fast paced environment while maintaining and projecting professionalism, internally and externally, at all times.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a keen eye for detail and a passion for providing unparalleled service.
  • Lift and carry 30 lbs.
  • Proficient wine and spirits knowledge base.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as required in the hospitality industry.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • Basic computer proficiency including Microsoft Word, Gmail/Google Share, and Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with OpenTable, and Toast point of sale are helpful.
