IronOaks at Sun Lakes

Comprised of two interconnected neighborhoods - Ironwood and Oakwood - the community is among the most desirable retirement destinations in the Valley thanks to its combination of mature landscape, diverse amenities, and in-town location. The community features two fabulous clubhouses, 45 holes of golf, fitness, tennis & pickleball, softball, pools, trails, and much more.

Where: Located in towns of Chandler & Sun Lakes, Arizona

Pay:$50,000 - $55,000 Annually

Benefits:

New management full-time team members working 30 hours or more per week, will be eligible for the Company medical, dental and life insurance plans the first of the month following the first day of full-time employment.

Full-Time team members are eligible to accrue Paid Time Off (“PTO”) in accordance with the Company policy at a rate of 120 hours per year.

Full-Time team members are eligible for 7 paid holidays annually.

All team members 21 years and older are eligible to participate in the J.F. Shea Co., Inc. 401(k) plan after completion of 30 days of service.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

As a member of the Landscape Maintenance Team, the Production Manager supports the daily operations of the landscape staff, meeting or exceeding established standards for team member satisfaction, guest satisfaction, and financial performance. This position reports to the Senior Landscape Division Manager or Landscape Division Manager.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate the core values and mission of BlueStar Resort & Golf (BSRG) to support the achievement of company goals.
  • Identify plants within the community, determine plant stress or plant health, and become aware of the landscaping needs of the grounds throughout the year to understand daily, weekly, monthly, and seasonal tasks.
  • Become familiar with low-pressure irrigation systems for landscaping and the use of fertilizer and chemical applications.
  • Work collaboratively with the Landscape Division Manager to manage all ornamental areas throughout the community, including flowers, trees, shrubs, ground covers, clubhouse plants, clubhouse lawns, etc.
  • Interview, hire, coach, and assist in development and training of staff.
  • Work in a safe manner and use all personal protective equipment (safety gear) assigned. Make sure all team members are using equipment and safety gear appropriately.
  • Be aware of safety requirements and report unsafe conditions or accidents to supervisor; assist in safety training for team members.
  • Communicate effectively with the Homeowners Association representative and clients with regards to daily operations and tasks.
  • Work with the Landscape Division Manager to follow-up and supervise landscape staff.
  • Respond to needs and requests of staff members, guests, and golf shop.
  • Communicate with the Equipment Manager or mechanic to maintain equipment operation and repair and minimize equipment downtime.

  • Purchase equipment parts and plant materials as instructed by the Landscape Division Manager.
  • Familiar with budgeting, payroll, purchasing, and monitoring expenses
  • Carry out daily, weekly, monthly tasks.
  • Other duties and responsibilities may be assigned

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS / QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Arizona Commercial Driver License
  • Four to six years’ experience and/or training in related field.
  • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of landscape installation through references and work history.
  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is a plus.
  • Previous experience working in a Homeowners Association preferred.
  • Sustainable Landscape Management (SLM) certification preferred.
  • Must have a thorough knowledge of native and desert adapted plants, trimming, pruning techniques, plant health, and water needs.
  • Must know how to operate large power and manual yard care equipment, including all tractors, skidsteers, loaders and ride-on mowers plus power yard care equipment; ability to teach others the safe operation of all yard care equipment and safety gear.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret as-builts, reports, plans, labels, Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and regulatory documents.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry; must be able to calculate figures and amounts such as calibration rates, proportions, percentages, and volume.
  • Must be able to lead by example by taking a proactive position to all issues concerning the Landscape Enhancement Team.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to respond to the needs and requests of staff members, guests, and the community association.
  • Must show critical thinking and decision-making skills, with an ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw conclusions.
  • Must be able to consistently achieve high work standards; attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness.
  • Must demonstrate initiative—ability to think, work, and make independent decisions, based on sound judgment.
  • Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced environment where continuous improvement is expected.
  • Valid driver’s license is required, and ability to drive a truck and trailer.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works in both a professional indoor office environment, as well as outdoors.

  • There is routine use of standard office equipment, such as computers, phones, copy and fax machines. The noise level in the indoor environment is usually moderate.
  • There will be frequent exposure to moving mechanical parts and outdoor weather conditions.
  • Outdoor environments may require parking and working in residential areas. Obstacles include, but are not limited to, pedestrians and city street traffic, walking while carrying equipment or driving a vehicle on property pathways or variable terrain, water, plants and the natural landscape. The employee may be exposed to hazards including, but not limited to, cuts, slipping, tripping, and falls.
  • The employee is frequently exposed to Arizona desert wildlife such as snakes, scorpions, spiders, bobcats, javelinas, etc.
  • There may be occasional exposure to precarious places, fumes or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and vibration.
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, but can be high depending on the equipment or machines used.
  • Employees are required to wear all assigned personal protective equipment.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

The physical demands described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

  • This position will be very active and will require standing and walking for the duration of a shift, sitting and driving, lifting, pushing, digging, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing, using hands to fingers, touching and holding, and reaching with hands and arms; regularly required to speak and hear.
  • The employee must be able to lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
