General Description of Position: Assist skilled craft workers in performing their assigned duties.
Essential functions and responsibilities:• Set up construction zones with proper saftey equipment
• Control traffic flow with stop/slow signs
• Maintain a safe work zone
• Communicate with your team to keep everyone safe
• Performs a variety of tasks involving dexterous use of hands and tools such as sawing, erecting and dismantling scaffolding, shoring and braces, mounting pipe hangers, cutting, and attaching insulation material, etc.
• Places and vibrates freshly poured concrete. May mix concrete or mortar using portable mixer.
• Mops, brushes or spreads paint or bituminous compounds over services and applies caulking compound by hand or with caulking gun to seal surfaces.
• Lifts, carries and holds building materials and supplies, levels earth to fine grade using pick and shovel and measures distances from grade stakes, drives stakes and stretches tight line
• Grinds, sands and polishes surfaces such as concrete or wood
• Cleans tools, equipment, materials and work area
• Operate hand and power tools
• Perform job clean-up
• When not performing the above essential duties and responsibilities, may assist in other operations as designated by the supervisor
