POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position Overview:

In the role of Heavy-Duty Diesel Technician, responsibilities include diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a variety of heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment. Extensive experience and a skilled set are instrumental in ensuring that the fleet operates at optimal performance levels while adhering to safety standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Perform diagnostic tests on heavy-duty diesel vehicles and equipment to identify issues and determine necessary repairs.
  • Conduct routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and tire rotations, to ensure optimal performance and longevity of vehicles and equipment.
  • Repair and replace defective parts, components, or systems, including engines, transmissions, brakes, steering, suspension, and electrical systems.
  • Utilize diagnostic tools and equipment, such as computerized diagnostic software, multimeters, and pressure gauges, to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical problems.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and procedures while working with heavy-duty equipment, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records of repairs, parts used, and labor hours, and provide detailed reports to management as required.
  • Collaborate with team members and communicate effectively to ensure efficient workflow and timely completion of repairs.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, advancements in technology, and best practices in heavy-duty diesel vehicle repair and maintenance.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical training program in diesel technology is preferred.
  • Experience working as a heavy-duty diesel technician in a similar role.
  • Proficiency in diagnosing and repairing diesel engines, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems.
  • Strong knowledge of diesel engine components, fuel systems, emissions control systems, and troubleshooting techniques.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools and equipment, including computerized diagnostic software and specialized tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
  • Excellent mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in performing repairs and maintenance tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
