Description
Buyer is responsible for sourcing and procuring, at minimum total costs, the necessary materials, components and/or sub-assemblies to manufacture products. Negotiate for and procure a variety of assigned commodities including those which are non-standard or of a technical nature. Develop suppliers, and hold accountable, to meet our quality, delivery, and cost requirements while maintaining assigned inventory levels.
Requirements
· Evaluate prices, specifications, lead times, supplier capabilities and capacity, award bids and place orders with suppliers.
· Prepare purchasing documentation and verify specifications of purchasing requisitions.
· Develop expertise on procurement of commodities related products and components that support JC Ford requirements.
· Execute supplier rationalization plans and support transition to existing and/or new suppliers.
· Support negotiation and execution of commercial agreement to reach lowest total cost including terms to mitigate economic and currency fluctuations as appropriate for assigned commodities (e.g., long-term agreements, make/buy analyses, market tests, etc.).
· Support, and when required lead, cost reduction projects and continuous improvement initiatives to achieve overall business objectives.
· Update and maintain purchase orders in MRP system for changes in design and delivery requirements.
· Balance current and future demand requirements with supplier capabilities/capacities to ensure on-time delivery of purchased parts.
· Analyze data, including enterprise requirements, planning information, and prepare reports as needed to facilitate and recommend actions to ensure optimal supply chain execution.
· Evaluate supplier performance requirements including quality, lead time and commitment expectations, as well as overall cost.
· Work with vendors for improved quality, delivery, service, and price performance. Evaluate these metrics with the critical suppliers regularly, as defined.
· Comply with plant safety procedures to ensure a safe environment.
· Comply with Supply Chain and Purchasing procedures and Quality Management System requirements.
Education:
Bachelor’s degree (B.A. or B.S) in Business, Supply Chain Management, or similar discipline from four year, accredited, college or university preferred.

The majority of the job function is performed in an office setting requiring normal safety precautions, but the job will also require from time to time to visit the production floor and in the warehouse.
