Assistant Residential Manager Job Description

Reports to: Residential Manager

Qualifications: BA degree in related field or 2 years experience working in a social service agency. Must have a valid Driver’s License.

General Description: To assist the Residential Manager in the day to day running of the home while providing protective care and oversight to the individuals living in the home.

Primary Duties

  • Works under the supervision of the Residential Manager
  • Works in the role of manager when the manager is off site.
  • Participates in the overall management of the home, including all consumer related activities
  • Works directly with individual consumers and staff in order to meet appropriate social, physical, persona and emotional needs
  • Works with consumers and staff in group setting to meet appropriate social, physical, personal and emotional needs
  • Supervises vocational and educational programs
  • Supervises expenditures and financial needs
  • Supervises and plans consumer recreational activities
  • Responsible for coordinating and scheduling consumers’ activities
  • Provides consistent guidance and structured instruction so that each resident will develop his/her fullest potential in the following areas:
  • Self-care skills and responsibilities
  • Social skills and responsibilities
  • Household skills and responsibilities
  • Community skills and responsibilities
  • Assists in the planning and implementation of long-range goals and short-term objectives for each resident
  • Maintains the operation and management of the residential home including household related tasks
  • Reports about each consumer’s progress and or regression during regularly scheduled staff meetings
  • Directs relief staff and volunteers in the home, making certain that they understand their duties and instructions
  • Participates in the training of new direct care staff as needed
  • Attends and participates in scheduled training sessions, in-services and designated staff meetings
  • Establishes and maintains beneficial and appropriate relationships with the families and guardians of the resident
  • In conjunction with the Residential Manager, hold monthly meetings either in a group or with individual consumers to develop meal planning, shopping and cooking plan. Supervise, as indicated, to facilitate an independent learning experience.
  • Assists the Residential Manager in all necessary capacities.
  • Contacts the Residential Manager in regard to any medical or household emergency while on duty
  • Cooperates with the DDD and DDI during investigations
  • Maintains information about consumers and services provided in electronic health record as appropriate

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $22.50 per hour
