Ivy Tech Community College of Indiana is Hiring a Remote Part Time – Note Taker Disability Support Services

Provides effective class notes to assigned students with disabilities Major Responsibilities: • Note taker typically attends class with student, records class notes and delivers notes to student immediately after class. DSS may determine alternative arrangements as needed • Note taker is responsible for providing notes that are effective for student, well organized, understandable, a clear reflection of the information presented and timely delivered • Note taker may be responsible for converting notes into a format accessible to the student and may use available resources including copy machines, computers and other equipment • Note taker communicates well with student and with student's instructor • For clarification, note taker reviews notes with student by mutual arrangement (no tutoring) • Note taker maintains strict confidentiality of all information related to student's disability, academic performance and/or communications • Unless enrolled in the class, note taker does not participate in class without instructor's approval, nor do they perform duties unassigned by DSS for students or employees • Note taker obtains signatures on forms as directed by supervisor and follows all other DSS written and oral directions The above listed functions require various degrees of independence, judgment and discretion, and the ability to be mobile in the office and/or work area. Minimum Qualifications: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Demonstrated competence in writing Experience: Some knowledge of subject area may be needed. Candidate should submit one of the following: two-page sample of class notes or a one-page letter of application. Preferred Qualifications: Education: Prefer college level ability, completed English 111 course with above average grade Experience: Three months as paid or volunteer note taker or publications writing. Submit sample writing or a one-page letter of application Other Requirements: Selected candidate for employment will be subject to pre-employment background checks, including criminal history check, and any offer of employment will be contingent upon that outcome.
